Blake has a bantam team? They should not have. In fact, a few years ago there was a vote that decided to limit youth hockey teams to youth hockey associations so I don't know what happened after that vote. MN Hockey could have had a clean slate of only youth hockey associations hosting youth hockey...

Minnesota Hockey is not only community based, it's also school based. You play for the community based team where the school you selected is located. There's community based youth hockey and then there's high school hockey. There is no binding connection between the two. Two different roles and fun...

Minnesota is about community based youth hockey teams. No school hosted youth teams should be allowed. None.

They need to skip the connection between DAHA and the high schools as there really isn't one. They have a single youth association. Play youth hockey with the DAHA through bantam and then select where you want to go to high school. The youth teams shouldn't be called DE or Denfeld. That's stupid. Ca...

Not so Community Based. If Hopkins has an agreement that gets their association extra ice at Blake arena, they can do whatever they want. Under registration processes with MN Hockey, they can register the team as "Hopkins Blake" no different than a "Wayzata Blue" or "Minnea...

Every youth hockey team in the state of Minnesota, except 1, is communty youth association hosted. I did some research (you didn't) and the Minneapolis Bantam B1 coach is named Anderson and they did have a game on their schedule vs. Blake on Saturday. Just saying. Back to the topic. Sounds like an u...

There is no Blake association. I am not 100% sure but I believe the 'Blake' team is registered through another association (I thought Hopkins but that is just a guess) and made up of Blake kids. The D3 site should list them differently. Again, I did not read in the article that the other team was B...

Bantam B1. Why does Blake have a Bantam team? They are not a youth association. Youth Associations, by definition, must support teams at all, or multiple, levels. I thought Blake was given one more year 2-3 years ago in an effort to get this once allowed loophole in line with every other youth assoc...

Weird how they come up with this stuff because in truth a youth association really has nothing to do with any particular high school. They're different organizations with different members and ruling boards. Several youth associations develop players in support of several high schools with no partic...

St Louis Park has had a large influx of Benilde skaters at the Bantam levels. Both our A and B1 teams are about half Benilde skaters, and both our A and B1 team will be much more competitive because of this rule. The Benilde skaters come from 6 or 8 different associations that I am sure hurts them ...

Schools like BSM, STA, Hill Murray, Breck and Blake all have middle school age kids and could opt to form their own teams. Wrong. Not going to happen. Youth hockey teams are hosted by community based MN Youth Hockey Associations only. A current option does allow them to play with a Youth Hockey Ass...

No child, without help from a parent, ever asked to go play with the Fire. One thing missing from this discussion is that community based youth hockey associations depend entirely on volunteers to build and maintain their organizations. Potentially it's the parents the assocations need to continue t...

Hey Royals Dad, Your post is the most moronic ever. Bensonmum asked a question that no one seems to be able to answer other than one girl is in 9th grade and open enrolled. The others are mysterious. You're correct. The rule is not a good one. But right now it's not being applied evenly across all r...

Hello, rules provide order in our society and are to be followed by all. I'm sick and tired, to borrow a quote, of selfish parents trying to fool the system and do things that only benefit themselves and their family. Check the girls youth forum as there's a good story about the Blaine 12UA coach re...

The vote by MN Hockey was last season was their last. Are you saying after they finally cleared the air, with only youth hockey affiliates hosting youth hockey teams, they muddied it up again? Why would they go backwards on that decision? Finally some clarity. I don't see your suggested decision ref...

Blake Bantam B

Any particular reason Blake seems to be cranking up a Bantam B team this year after they were told by Minnesota Hockey that last season was their last? I can't imagine they missed that decision but seem to be playing dumb. Think these boys need to head back to their association quickly or they'll en...

No. A requirement of being a youth hockey association is to offer teams at all levels. Usually boys and girls. There are currently a sufficient number of youth hockey associations.

CNF, You kinda hit the nail on the head. "let a few kids play with their classmates." Why do a few fussy parents get their way at the expense of 98% of all families that were fine playing where they lived and, in most instances, already go to school. Then, for the rule change authors to si...

All the new kids coming in with the new participation rule. All hockey playing students at Our Lady of Grace, French Immersion, new public school students, others?, now register with Edina. Edina families "in the know" don't know who will be registering for their program this year.

You're wrong on several points. It's not, "the only way to go." No youth player, "plays for their school." It's not, "the only logical thing to do." And, privates don't have, nor will they start, their own associations. Are you saying it has something to do with a priva...
