- Topic: What's wrong with Edina?

Edina, much like UNC in college hoops, suffered from excessive expectations. Sure, they had one of the most talented teams around. However, I would like to point out that Edina tends to garner more hype, and if that same roster were on a team without Edina's history, the expectations would have been...

Was it just me or did it seem like almost everyone in the Ex wanted Moorhead to win? It wasn't just you. When Cretin scored, their student section and a few parents cheered. When Moorhead scored, everyone, except the few Cretinites cheered. Way to go Spuds. Blaine will blast the Raiders today. They...

God I hate this argument. It's hockey, it's a puck, three forwards, two defense, one goalie and two nets. Private Schools can be a great option for many, and Public Schools can too (sometimes even better). The Public vs. Private debate is to this site what T.O and A-Rod are to ESPN................gl...

Re: No....East isnt a Legit Title contender
As a CDH fan, I hope the Raiders win, but unlike smw1111, I understand both how good this year's DE team is, and also how much history DE has as a program and how much weight that carries at a platform like the X. THEORY DE looks a lot like previous champion teams CDH '06 and Hill of '08 in the fact...

Re: No....East isnt a Legit Title contender
Nothing wrong with a normal one period sentence structure! As a recent CDH grad, and player, bashing DE is not a good way to gain credibility/respect. DE, along with Blaine, is a half-inch behind Edina and EP as favorites of the tourney. CDH joins Hill and Moorhead as darkhorse picks with little act...

CDH and their staff will have a good idea about just how good DE is. Anyone without a serious grudge knows the Hounds are one the most talented squads in the state. With that said, I think CDH has an outside chance of winning this one. CDH has quick, clever forwards and Walsh is a very solid goalie...

Cretin-Derham Hal l CDH is anchored by Gopher recruit Mark Alt. Alt, a 6-4 D, is a rangy player with tons of athleticism who is usually the best player on the ice at both ends of the ice. After Alt, however, CDH runs thin in top-notch talent. Senior Tom Zimmerman is big and strong and if he plays w...

Moorhead can and will win this game if they play very physical, stay out of the box, get incredible goaltending and finish on several of their likely few chances. Edina's speed can suffocate an unexpected opponent, but Moorhead knows Edina. Given Edina's recent history of losing games in the tourney...

SCOUTING REPORTS ON AA TOURNEY TEAMS
Heading into the tourney it would be nice to see some honest scouting reports on the teams in the AA state tourney. Anything will be better than the hackjob done by the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press.

Budish is the obvious selection for me. Big, skilled, unselfish and very creative with a good stride is a better NHL skill-set than you see in the lightning-fast and incredibly smooth Leddy. Leddy, as well as Budish, needs to toughen up and ultimately Budish has more upside. To me Budish's potential...

From what I've seen East and Edina are the favorites and teams like Centennial and Hill are right behind, they just lack the horses to win six straight in sections and state. AHA, Jefferson and EP are very, very good as well. It seems the talent is down this year overall though, especially in the SEC.

STA looked very quick, and they should be favorites to capture the JV championship (even though Marshall beat them -- they are young, expect improvements). CDH looked a little flat at times, and the topline (bangs especially) was completely ineffective. Zimmerman should be playing defense. CDH's sec...

CRETIN DERHAM HALL CDH always plays a tough schedule, but with the talent down state wide this year, especially in the SEC, the Raiders should finish about 18-10 or so. JUnior D Mark Alt is one of the state's top D (#2 overall USHL futures pick and Gopher verbal commit), and he will be the top play...

Too bad, Isaakson is way better. Walters is awful defensively. Isaackson is one of the top 10 overall players in the state. STA is overrated though, and they are the worst with recruiting. Sorry to open that can of worms, but I have a pretty good idea of what schools recruit, and STA is far and away...

CDH will be good, but not great. Barbato (2nd line) is a very good prospect, he will score 10-20 goals this year. Alt is the best player in the conference (UMN recruit) and Zimmerman is a very solid leader. However, Bangs is a coaster, hates physicality, and the Raiders are small and lack physical p...

Players you were impressed with at Tourney
There are the obivous choices, but how about some guys that came in under the radar a little bit and proved themselves to be elite level players. I thought Furne, Sova and Dolan from Hill elevates their status, as did Landman from Roseau and Bergland, McCarthy from BSM and Goff from Woodbury. I'm mi...
