And stay out of the penalty box, I would add.breakout wrote:Unlucky draw for Moorhead. Moorhead will have to try and set the tone by hitting Edina's players from the time the puck drops until the game is over. Do their best to minimize the first line and get stellar goaltending. If they don't do that, it will be a long game for the spuds.

Moorhead can and will win this game if they play very physical, stay out of the box, get incredible goaltending and finish on several of their likely few chances. Edina's speed can suffocate an unexpected opponent, but Moorhead knows Edina. Given Edina's recent history of losing games in the tourney (or sections), the Spuds have a shot. Ultimately, Edina still wins. I only see Edina losing to DE or EP. Maybe Blaine, but doubtful.
4-1 Edina.
4-1 Edina.
ALL you people from Edina dont count our SPUDS out yet!!! Moorhead hasnt seen a state tourny for 4 years and Moorhead played Edina once this year and lost 3-0 and went on a horrible 8 game losing streak!! Spuds are playing there best hockey of the season and can pull this off I think Moorhead will pull the upset and win 4-2 with a empty net goal!! Call me dumb or whatever you want it what i think will happen and my opinion!!
GO SPUDS!! THE TOWN OF MOORHEAD WILL BE BEHIND YOU BOYS AT THE X!!
SWAT THE HORNETS!!!

SWAT THE HORNETS!!!

Edina doesn't always play a flawless game like they did against the Jags. Their losses during the course of the season offer proof of that.
Also, Edina's goalie is a big question mark. Getting into his head during the game could pay off.

but how many of those 18,000 will be cheering on the spuddies, im willing to bet more than the hornets... im not sayin, im just sayinNyQuil DayQuil Pop Tart wrote:everybody looks for that big upset every year at the state tourny. if you are looking for one, don't look here. we have witnessed what edina does when they have a week to prepare for a game, embarrassing jefferson in the section championship 5-0. above all the other advantages edina has in this game, their big game experience will shine through on a team like moorhead in a big game like this. they have proven they can come back in big games against good teams (AHA and Tonka) to win. Even if moorhead strikes edina early, its only a matter of time. On paper, moorhead has a chance, barely. throw them in the x with close to 18,000 and more watching at home against the most dangerous, experienced team in the state and I would expect to see edina thrive on it and moorhead to crumble under the pressure. edina by at least 2.

I tend to find the 'looking past their opponent' belief to be a fallacy.newSPUDfan wrote:I love how people are already writing Moorhead off! I could spit out facts and numbers to support my belief that the Spuds will shock the world (well, the metro, anyway), but it would fall on deaf ears. You people on this board are all the proof I need that Edina will be looking past the Spuds, and THAT is a dangerous thing in the state tourney........
Good luck, boys..... lets go eat some cake!!!!!

This "hornets will underestimate" stuff is somewhat comical. Hornet coaches Giles and Beaupre both played in the stanley cup finals when they were 23 and 19, respectively. Thats not much older than these kids, they know what these kids are going through. They know that you cannot underestimate anyone and you have to seize the moment. Both teams have a week to prepare for this game, and edina is hungrier than ever for a championship. Most of these players still have that fire burning after losing in the finals last year. Moorhead will not be taken lightly.
Too bad, you can't always get what you want... Edina will not win the title. But, they will win this game.starmvp wrote:NyQuil said it correct. Anyone who was on the team last year will come back this year to win the championship. They will not want to fall short as they did last year.
Hornets 4
Spuddies 2
Hornets will have to settle for a front row(on the ice) seat to watching EP celebrate the title.
Well, was anyone a spectator at the game earlier in the season. These two teams played at Schwan's Cup. I remember watching the updates of the game. I believe it Edina won 3-0 with an empty net goal. That leaves the game at 2-0, so I believe we should have a great game. This was also during the spuddies 8 game losing streak.
Moorhead wins 3-0 (EN) They have been scoring some goals lately, and have had some great play from their goaltender.

Come bud, Edina has not been shut out all season and has been held to 1 goal only three times this season. Get real. Moorhead's defense is average at best and Marks didn't see a potent offense like this at all in sections. Altenbrand is also just a week from having Mono so if you expect him to be 100% you're crazy. Moorhead will have to play flawless and Edina will have to play very poor for the Spuds to win. I am completely neutral when it comes to these two teams, and I am also one who loves to see the underdog prevail, but I am also a realist. Edina, 5-1.Morgan7 wrote:Well, was anyone a spectator at the game earlier in the season. These two teams played at Schwan's Cup. I remember watching the updates of the game.
