Richfield - Kennedy

They made the decision yesterday (11/8). From what I am hearing they did not have enough girls for 2 lines and there goalie was new to hockey.

Not sure if the coach or the AD made the final decision.

Richfield - Kennedy

Wouldn't Kennedy have to merge with Jefferson first? Not sure that the Bloomington school district would allow this kind of merger, although it does make a lot of sense.

I know little about the situation but it looks like poor planning to me. Horrible situation to be in as a player... can't transfer! can't get a waiver to play elsewhere! Senior season down the toilet! Not the biggest concern but the teams of the Classic Suburban (and non-conference) will now have to...

I would assume that it is too late for any of the girls to go to another HS program. Try-outs are over and most teams have already had scrimmages. Some will even begin play this week. U-19 in Edina would make the most sense. Sad situation for those girls and their families. Someone has to be held ac...

Is this the guy who coaches (or has coached) the Whitecaps and Jr. Whitecaps? Same guy who was asst. at EP, Hopk and BSM? Or is this the guy who coached Richfield a couple of years ago? If it is the Whitecaps guy, I am not sure how much the Breck AD learned from the last hire. Great coach. Girl's fl...

Gravel or Morris

Awesome! The girls are in good hands. Both excellent coaches.

So sad that they could not find a woman to take over.

I wonder who they will hire to be their recruiting coordinator? Has anybody heard?

No more excuses! LNHS has the "super staff" that should take the team, HS and town to greatness. I hope the boys are ready to hit the ice for the greatest season of their lives. 31-0-0 baby! Oh, sorry, forgot the coaches can't play in the games. Oops. It is not about the x's and o's, it is...

If my memory serves this is the second year of this coach? Is this correct? Appears as though this guy has done lots of damage in a short period of time. Or could it possibly be something else. I know they put the last coach through the ringer with constant harrassment and eventually a lawsuit. This...

Hill Murray

Even if they struggle at the beginning, the experience will help them at section time. Keep in mind that they play in a weak conference and will be able to build lots of confidence and fix mistakes.

This group should be ready to make a run to St. Paul by the end of the season.

Should have chosen the Bruins after the Minneapolis Bruins from 1963-1965.

Novas was a bad choice. Does each player get a bag with rollers and a big NOVAS on the side?

You are fooling yourself if you don't think the head coach as a good idea on the first day of who will be on the varsity. They may be watching just a couple of players at the bottom of the roster. Coaches should know about eveyone in the program from U10 to varsity. The numbers for girls tryouts are...

I am trying to remember but I don't think Hill Murray has lost a conference game in 2 years. If they have it might have been just once.

I don't see this trend changing in 2010-2011. Should be another strong season for the Pioneers. It will all come down to how they do in sections.

Head Coaching

I would agree that female coaches are just too smart and see that the costs outweigh the benefits of being a head coach. I would not recommend taking a head coaching job to my worst enemy, in any sport, especially hockey! I think what these female coaches have figured out that it is much more satisf...

Graduating HS Early

Has a Girl's HS hockey player ever accelerated her schooling to graduate a year ahead of schedule to go D1 (i.e. - Ness and Schroeder on the boys side)?

Might be too late for someone in the 2011 class but maybe some 2012 will give it a chance?

SEC vs. CSC

Great idea!

Although I am not 100% sure I think that Richfield Head Coach - Harris is a Hastings grad. If I am right that would add a little more to this one of a kind MN hockey event.

I would love to see it happen.

Edina Coach

From what I have heard there is only one current head coach in the final 3. So I am not sure that this is going to cause a "domino effect". The final three are all very good. Who ever gets this job, Edina will have a great coach.

Ms. Hockey 2009

I agree that the season should be the basis for the decision but the division 1 coaches from the WCHA as well as the division 3 coaches from MN and WI choose the top 10 and the winner. The ballot is sent out by LPH. Thus, all of those coaches are watching the National Development tryouts. Play well ...

Went on Thursday and watched the rest at home. Very disappointing attendance and atmosphere. Although the "X" is the best rink in North America, it is horrible when no one is there. Read the article with Darawitz in the Trib. Went to Ridder to watch MN vs. Wisc. Great atmosphere, wonderful...
