Thanks for the update. Eagan must be pretty good. I saw they had 9 goals in their first game.

Eagan top 5 team in the state this year. Game was at Edina tonight. Eagan plays Minnetonka next Saturday night.

Edina Defense

Edina has been giving up a lot of goals in the early going. What gives?

If Edina doesn't get excellent goaltending every night, it's going to be a struggle. From what I can see at this point, Edina has six forwards -- Fogarty, Sit, Walker, Sampson, Cote, and Nanne -- who will have to log a lot of ice time for Edina to have a shot. It seems as though Giles is going with four D, and those four D are by no means overpowering physically, seem to lack real finesse, and cannot consistently compete with the state's top forwards.

Great game tonight by two fast and skilled teams.. Poor goal teanding but really fun to watch with a great high school hockey environment!

My question is since there was a brawl to end the game and fighting penalties were called will there be any players suspended and if so how long?

It seemed to be far more of a pushing match than a brawl. I didn't see helmets or gloves scattered about the ice. I'm sure there will be no suspensions, as the kids seemed to separate with a little prodding by the referees. I guess to me this wouldn't fall in the brawl category. It was more of a wrestling match. My opinion is based on the Canadian hockey dictionary definition of a brawl. However, we are talking about the kinder, gentler, MN high school league, so we'll have to wait and see.

okay so maybe brawl was a little strong in the wording but the announcement was fighting penalties instead of roughing so just wondering if that was a more severe penalty..

So is Eagan's lineup as Big as the roster sheet says? All but 3 are under 6'.

What's with all the penalties Edina takes? Discipline issue?

I put a few photos of the fight/brawl in the share your hockey photos category - take a peek and decide for yourself - not all photos are up yet - but I saw some punches being thrown for sure - was a little more than wrestling I think.
