I have no interest in the Bantams....however, if you're right...I'll have my crow medium rare!

The rest of the D5 Bantams should be playing B hockey in any metro district but Buffalo has played some of the best....competitively. I won't risk much on our PW's...(they're so inconsistant) but the Bantams are all 2nd year (save one) and I think you'll be surprised!

Remember...medium rare!

Right or wrong, I'm assuming that the 8 teams that are in Mankato this weekend as similar to those teams who played Regions 2 years ago in Buffalo.
D4
New Prague
New Ulm
Mankato
Albert Lea
D5
Orono
Buffalo
?
?

Of those 8 teams who advanced? It wasn't Buffalo.

Good points (none of which I have the answer) but move-ins, maturity & coaching have changed much of the Buffalo dynamics since then.

If you're right I'll be the first to admit it........just not sure a homer mentality makes you right (I'm guilty too).

Look at who they've played outside of their respective district and see how they've done....then compare. I think you'll think otherwise.

I hope you're wrong...good luck.

I'm signing off!

AL/Buff: AL didn't trail until 4:00 left in the 3rd, 2 quick one's for Buff and a late EN goal. Bummer for AL, good job by Buff. AL ended up killing too many penalties and didn't seem to get any bounces.

PWA result:

Mankato 9
Mound/Westonka 2

Mound came out strong and was in the game in the second period, but when Kato started hitting, the (2-2) game changed fast. Tomorrow is moving day, especially for D4 regular season champ Faribault who plays Buffalo at 8AM

Goaltending was the key as alway's. Both Kato goalies were good, Trautman was awesome vs. Buffalo. Owatonna goalie was consistently good and low and behold, they won. Buffalo's #5 was very good but it didn't seem his linemates were ever caught up with him. #10 from Owatonna is very fast and very strong on his skates, he was able to create opportunities for his team and keep puck's deep at crucial times. NP wasn't able to generate enough real quality chances against Ow. Adams from NP was the most skilled player in the tourney. D4 showed themselves very well and the officiating was total non-issues, don't get me wrong, some parent's wouldn't agree, but they were wrong like alway's.

Joshdog...if it is any consolation to you the Buffalo kids thought AL was the best team they played all weekend. At least my son did. You guys hit hard and surprised the kids with your speed(#11)..I agree with you on #10 from Owatanna as his strength definately benefited their team...Most of the Buffalo folks were surprised by our loss to Owatanna but their parents were awesome and very gracious in victory...and we are happy for them and their kids as they seemed very well mannered. The refereeing was a non issue and the Kato goalies were awesome...we peppered them with 53 shots and had to score late to win...i think kato had less than 15 shots in the game....the kid from Owatanna stood on his head against us as well...I watched your kids leave the arena Friday night and watched ours leave the arena saturday...it was the same mood but you should be commended because your club gave everything they had and we wish Owatanna the best of luck...they beat us fair and square...That's what make hockey a great game!

Joshdog...I agree with your opinion of the players who stood out. I thought #5 from Buffalo was most skilled and the kid from New Prague was stronger with a lot of skill as well...I forgot to grab a program...does anyone know who #5 is and if he's a 90,91?

i agree again with joshdog very insightful, adams is a very good player one of d4's best, number 5# for buffalo also very skilled, and we saw some fantastic goaltending from mankatos two goalies trautman,(vs buffalo) and bruggeman,(vs new prague)

I agree with the assessments on the players who stood out that have been mentioned. Couple more that stood out to me were
Connaker frow Owatonna. Good hands and feet and very strong for his size. He plays well with Paulsen on the top line.

Doig and Drazen fron New Prague. Two very solid D-men
Cowger from Hutch. Not much help on that team, but he skates OK and goes hard to the net. Also shares the puck very well.

All in all a very competitive tourney with numerous overtime games. We saw some skill, determination and some great goaltending throughout the weekend.
