Paul Bitner, Shane Gersich, Tyler Nanne, Jack Glover, Jack Walker and Chase Perry made it to NTDP tryouts last year so I assume they are in.
I notice Gersich, Bitner and Glover aren't playing in the final 54.

Experience teaches us that the absence of a player's name on the final 54 list does not always correlate with the absence of that player at the next level of "competition."

Mostly the same guys as last year - that's the way it's set up.

I know I will be at all the 17's games this weekend should be able to give some quick thoughts after that and hopefully I can catch most of the 16's but that is not my priority, someone else has that task. Again it is said that picks for NY are made off of the play from this weekend but everyone knows Minnesota Hockey has its favorites that no matter what will advance to NY, usually a big difference between who deserves and who actually goes.

That is too bad. Kids develop at different ages and picks should be made
off of the weekends play.

Are you saying some kids will develop from last weekend to this weekend ? And I thought the team is picked at the end of this weekend ?

Why bother going to the games. Same names as you'd expect - branded players that play their three games maybe have an assist and make it through while lesser known kids without the name that play well over the course of three games will be sent home wondering why they don't make a team or are told to keep working hard and maybe next year.....right.

5 out 6 "Branded names" made it from Sec 2  1 of the 5 played a game and a half and still made it through.
WHL development sure seems to have enhanced one of the "Branded names" on the list. Man that kid is fast. Just imagine what 54 s will do for his development.

For the 17's, on defense, these five were going to NY before the first game of the <cough> "tryouts" :P
Any spelled wrong, I'm to lazy to look it up.

Don't know who #6 will be. Anyone ? Forwards ?

We already know Nanne is headed to Natty/Nanne Camp thanks to Grandpa Lou who has pulled favors the last two years. It's not to imply Nanne is not good, because he is and perhaps will advance on his own merit this time around.

The #6 spot could easily be one of several quality players sitting home this weekend that were shutout and shunned by the HP (Highly Political) process. Same thing among forwards. But don't let that assoicated BS keep you from enjoying what should be a good weekend of hockey in Plymouth. Any chance of an upset in Sunday's 16/17 crossover games?

Sure do gotta axe blue. You must not have watched Sec. 2s 2nd game vs Sec.6. One Sec 2 "Branded" was ejected for fighting from Sec 2s second game and suspended for his 3rd place game. Yea I know not a big deal for him he got a free pass to the 54s. Imagine that :-k I would hope he didnt play in the 3rd place game as it would just back up the credibility of the whole development process for MN HP hockey if he did.

Major penalties given? If so, do you get 2 penalty shots? Let's get rid of the penalty shots and give the team a minute PP with the face off in the offensive zone. Would be fun to see these kids run a power play and take the penalty shot out from being a deciding factor in a game.

It's gotten to the point where it'd be easier to list the open spots (if any), before the fesitval, vs. the already taken ones.
