Agreed. (with one execption on Saturday. I'll be cheering for D. Marshall over Hibbing)Oldtimehockeyguy23 wrote:While I support Jack, there is still no way I can root for BSM, or any private school for that manner.
Jack will be in everyone's heart and thoughts regardless of if you cheer for their team or not.

I've never respected Benilde, always thought it was a Class A program that had one good year when it got to the AA state tourney and we would never hear from them again. Then I saw the Section 6AA final on Wednesday. They are the real deal and I can't wait to cheer against them next weekend. I like rooting against Hill and Holy Angels because the kids don't play for their cities. I'm not saying they shouldn't go to those schools, I just like to cheer against them. Benilde was a non-factor to me. Now it's clear I have another nemesis.
so you think they should be a trophy chaser and stay in Class A when it's obvious they belong in AA? At least BSM has the guts to step up to AA and play the big schoolsDanFromWoodbury wrote:I've never respected Benilde, always thought it was a Class A program that had one good year when it got to the AA state tourney and we would never hear from them again. I totally agree with you, headsup. After watching the 2nd Benilde/Moorhead game and seeing Benilde take run after run at Spuds goaltender Bitzer when they were behind in the 3rd period and their coach throwing tantrums and screaming like a spoiled brat on the bench, there's no respect at all for them.headsup wrote:BSM the sentimental favorite?????
While everyone in their right mind is behind JJ, don't confuse that support with BSM as a program.
By far KP has the least class of any HS coach I've seen. Unfortunately it rubs off on some kids and has been displayed many times this year (watch the videos).
JJ returning to the arena brings the class, inspiration, and influence that KP never could.
I wish all the best for Jack and hope for a miracle, but that has no connection to how the team does. Apples and oranges.

In that regard I have more respect for them than Warroad.zamboni14 wrote:so you think they should be a trophy chaser and stay in Class A when it's obvious they belong in AA? Warroad has won how many "class A" titles? 4northern_guy wrote:warroad is a town of like 1700 people? really? they should opt up to AA because they have won a few times or been to state a few times? they are far from the perenial favorite retardNostalgic Nerd wrote:In that regard I have more respect for them than Warroad.zamboni14 wrote: so you think they should be a trophy chaser and stay in Class A when it's obvious they belong in AA? BSM has won how many? 2
But BSM gets lumped in with the trophy chaser private schools like Breck, STA, etc.

Anyone who REALLY knows Ken Pauly has just read the biggest crock of BS that you two clowns just wrote about him. You don't get to be the president of the Minnesota High School Coaches Association by being a no class spoiled brat who doesn't inspire people. He does more to promote and improve Minesota high school hockey then you two dipsticks will ever know.CitiesSpudsGuy wrote:I totally agree with you, headsup. I have to agree with you puck, I have met him before and he is a very nice guy. And how do you accept him to act when his team is down all nice and composed. Oh and just because he is coaching at benilde doesn't make him a spoiled brat it just means he coaches and teaches at a school that rich kids go to don't equate the kids with the coaches.puck81 wrote:Anyone who REALLY knows Ken Pauly has just read the biggest crock of BS that you two clowns just wrote about him. Pauly is the best coach I have ever played under. Your opinions may based upon what you see at games or interviews, but until you have actually played under Pauly you wouldn't understand. He respects his players and his players respect him back.headsup wrote:BSM the sentimental favorite?????

Don't hate STA. I wouldn't want to lose either.

I guess headsup and I touched a sensitive nerve, huh? I see you have tantrums just like Pauley does. Just because he's the president of the Minnesota High School Coaches Association doesn't give him a free pass for how he acts behind the bench. If anything, he should be held to a higher standard! GET A CLUE!!!puck81 wrote:Anyone who REALLY knows Ken Pauly has just read the biggest crock of BS that you two clowns just wrote about him. So he's great to his own players... fantastic! So he's part of the MSHS brass... classic!!! Just validates my opinion.
The tape doesn't lie either, especially with this year's team on numerous occasions. Look it up... or do you need someone to do that for you too???

I don't watch any BSM games unless they're at the X, so I have no horse in this race when it comes to the comments on the coaching, but I will say that I certainly care how a coach acts behind the bench. How can you not care? They are supposed to be the role models for their teams and if they act inappropriately that tells me their team, when given the chance, will act inappropriately and it seems, with evidence to back it up, that has been going on. Just my opinion.mnhockey30 wrote:I don't really see how you can argue that they are not the sentimental favorite after what happened to them this season. Who cares how their coach acts during a game its a game emotions are high.
But more on topic, I don't think that just because of a terrible accident that they are automatically the sentimental favorite. You really think everyone is just going to cheer for a team they otherwise would never cheer for? I will cheer for Jabs in his tough journey, not BSM as a whole.

I will agree on that you don't need to cheer for BSM as a whole, hell we are a private school so we got that going for us. But cheering for Jabs works great for me. I get where you are coming from with the being a role model, but every coach has those times in a game that they act out of character and its not just Pauly its every hockey coach in MN.RangeHockeyFan1817 wrote:I don't watch any BSM games unless they're at the X, so I have no horse in this race when it comes to the comments on the coaching, but I will say that I certainly care how a coach acts behind the bench. I Don't think anyone who is a fan of another team going to state is expected to cheer for BSM just because of the accident. But for those fans of hockey who don't have a horse in the race, I think BSM will be the over whelming fan favorite.
As for those tearing down the program and te coach, just ignore them for they know not what they do.

This is just sad and pathetic. Try cheering for teams instead of cheering against programs like Benilde-St. Margaret's. Thats just childish. I've seen numerous kids go through that school and they are the classiest, most impressive kids you can imagine. What happened to their program with Jablonski is very tragic. The type of community I saw by the school as a whole on the news and around the cities was an absolute credit to the type of place that really is. And yet some people still hate them. Is it because they have a great program and have the ability to hire excellent staff? Ken Pauly does take it overboard on occasion but he is one of, if not the best coach in the state of Minnesota. Look at his job this year with this team. At the beginning of the year, they were the biggest premadonnas, had no defense, and didn't play as a team. Wednesday they looked like the best team in the state because he pulled the right strings. He simply outcoached Urick. He turned Tonka's program around in just 3 years there and now has transformed Benilde into a top 10 team year in and year out. He genuinely cares about his players. He protects them. Sometimes he takes it to another level but something has to be said for the amount of respect he gets from his players and the BSM community. This thread just looks like too many of the Red Knight's victims are trying to sound off. I don't know where this hatred comes from but hating a high school definitely isn't class. Smells like jealousy

wow sensitive much? People have long been rooting against private schools for many reasons, it is part of the fun; however I will say jelousy certainly isn't one of the reasons. If I had all the money in the world I wouldn't send my kid to a private school but I have no problem with those that do. And people have every right to hold their own OPINION on matters such as coaches. Like I said before, I really don't know or have an opinion on the guy; he's obviously a pretty good coach from his results, but that certainly doesn't mean everyone is going to agree with the way he does things.eagleman wrote:This is just sad and pathetic.
