I suppose all these Lou Lovers are Doug Woog lovers also. Herb Karneal was a legend for the Twins and I respected him as a Twins Icon, but you have to admit as soon as he took over the mike in his later years the broadcast got less interesting. Same with Lou, A great Minnesota Hockey Legend, but for the good of the game hang it up. Yea all of us "Northerners", are Lou haters. Right. Oh and they put most of the Northern teams in Class A because the Cities teams were getting embaressed because a small school would beat your Jeffersons, Edinas, etc.

couldn't disagree more, he calls it as he sees it, even though he has a grandson on the team, it's gotta be tough to do it as good as him. Im not just saying this because i'm from edina.bronco2828 wrote:Sorry folks I get tired of hearing how good Edina and the other cities teams are. He does one of the most biased announcing jobs I've ever heard. I understand a lot of people like him and think the T.V. broadcast woudn't be the same without him. I could do without the Ole Fossil.

Lou has been, is, and will be and awesome asset to the state High School Tourney.
You dont have to love him but can anyone think of anyone who represents total MN hockey more than Lou Nanne.
Former All American, Olympian, NHL player, general manager, coach, father, grandfather.... it goes on. We are very fortunate to have a passionate, knowledgeable, and entertaining man of his stature to listen to for all these years.
Thanks Lou

A guy name Steve Yzerman was also taken a few picks later...ouch. Oh well, Lou was a big part of hiring Brooks to coach the 80 Olympic team; at least in the movie. Why did you draft Brian Lawton ahead of Pat LaFontaine
Opt up, easy enough. As seen in the last few days your AA schools as it is are having a tough time with our schools. DE and Roseau are playing for 5th today and teams like Grand Rapids, Brainerd, and Moorhead didn't impress this year against our cities teams. You have to walk before you run.Oh and they put most of the Northern teams in Class A because the Cities teams were getting embaressed because a small school would beat your Jeffersons, Edinas, etc.

I forgot about Yzie!!! I just remembered all the hype about LaFontaine breaking the great Guy LaFleur's juniors scoring records, and I thought, "why are we even considering a HS kid?"...BBB wrote:A guy name Steve Yzerman was also taken a few picks later...ouch. Let me rephrase it then..
"Louie?? Why the heck did you ever take Brian Lawton #1 overall?"
Re: Give it up Lou
I agree very much. One game in particular a few years ago I decided that I was never likely to be a fan of Lou Nanne. An outstate team was domnating the much favored twin cities area team except the game was scoreless with the outstaters unable to poke one in in many chances. You could smell the upset, and this would've been a pretty nice upset, in the air. Which when you are watching it, it's like: this is great for hockey, this is what the State Tournement is all about. Well I couldn't believe my ears when Lou Nanne started talking about how it would be too bad if this TC area team with all of their "talent" didn't make it to the finals. In fact according to Lou, it would be horrible for hockey.....and on and on he whent.....all's I have to say is hang it up.bronco2828 wrote:Sorry folks I get tired of hearing how good Edina and the other cities teams are. Spoiled city f***. You're the type that when an out state team wins the AA and A tourney it's a fluke or poorly officiated game. When the cities teams kill the outstate teams you make references that we shouldn't be in the "Cities" oh I mean Minnesota Tourney. Keep Chirpin about the Northern teams. I knew I should have made CakeEater or HMFan my Login Name.BBB wrote:A guy name Steve Yzerman was also taken a few picks later...ouch. It bugged me too, when Lou said it. Its true.BBB wrote:So "when" was it that LouDoes anyone else remember him in fact, saying it would be 'horrible' for hockey or is this a northern interpretation?on and on he whent..
Defense, when was this?
I'm not a big Louie fan, but we could do a lot worse.
I suppose Louie is biased. Seeing as how he sees way more metro games than outstate, how can't he be? Although I do remember him gushing about Ness way too much for my taste.
I'm not sure its possible for a Citiot to please a northern guy anyway. They seem to be awful bitter. Must be the short golf season...
Kinda bugs me...
I vote for keeping Lou and getting rid of Bronco!!!bronco2828 wrote:I suppose all these Lou Lovers are Doug Woog lovers also. someday it won't be on TV and then what, everyone will say "even the though the announcers weren't as good as i would have liked, i sure do miss seeing it". And remember when "Messier helmets was a sponser, they must have paid money to keep the cameras running. I should have just turned the channel instead of letting that bother me and appreciated it"wbmd wrote:The thread should really be called give it up channel 45!!

I cannot believe people would rip on Lou Nanne.
Love him at the state tournaments and love him on KFAN!
Fun to listen to him straighten out Sid on CCO once in awhile.

I don't think the studio host did a minute of prep. I'll guess he's not from MN because he doesn't seem to know anything about the players, teams, towns, conferences, etc. Darby's doing a really nice job.
My guess is that he is in Vegas for the tournament
