Give it up Lou

Post by bronco2828 »

Sorry folks I get tired of hearing how good Edina and the other cities teams are. He does one of the most biased announcing jobs I've ever heard. I understand a lot of people like him and think the T.V. broadcast woudn't be the same without him. I could do without the Ole Fossil.

I used to dislike him because he seemed to have a bias against HM. But then two years ago when they played like the best team in state he gushed about how they were the playing like the best team in state. I think he just calls it like he sees it. I try to catch him on Barreiro's show every week as the guy knows hockey and the inside dealings of both college and pro hockey. And please, are you really asking for more Housely?

I listen to him on Barreiro every week, too. It's actually what made me start liking him. I used to think he was as bad as housley, but really, he's not even close. The guy does know an unbelievable amount about hockey at every level.

Then maybe the outstate teams should beat us city teams and give "Sweet Lou" something to talk about. Just sit back and watch the all-metro semis, or better yet, slide over to Mariucci and catch the outstate teams and report back to people just how good they are.

Lou is an icon and he has a real passion for HS hockey. Why do you expect people to be perfect? I enjoy every minute of his role in the tournament.

You really need to learn respect.

Gotta keep Lou!!! He's an icon. When I think of the State Tournament, one of the 1st things that enter my mind is Sweet Lou doing the analysis on tv. And I disagree with the OP...I don't think he shows any overt bias towards Edina. I think he does a pretty good job of calling 'em like he sees 'em.

I like Lou too but the studio host and the woman reporter are terrible. I don't think the studio host did a minute of prep. I'll guess he's not from MN because he doesn't seem to know anything about the players, teams, towns, conferences, etc. Darby's doing a really nice job.

I don't know if Karl and Lee will see this thread, but I am highly disappointed that Tom Hansen, a Duluth sports anchor, and one of Goldfishdude's HS pal and college roommates, is not back this year as the sideline reporter.

Even though Hanny was not as nice to look at, he atleast wasn't a blonde and could ask decent questions...........

I vote for getting Goldfishdude on the production/broadcast team, as I would be personally selling all the advertising I could to pay the salary of getting ESPN's ERIN ANDREWS in here for the weekend!!!!!!!! =P~ =P~ 8)

Louie is a Minnesota Icon. He does this for the love of the game and we should just be happy that he does it. I gaurantee when he gives it up there will be an outpouring of support Lou and commets about the next guy not being able to carry his Jock strap!

Lets see Lou or Mcgraw OR Phil thr thrill? OR
Darby fulltime? He is getting good and he got a haricut!. Now when you watch him you dont feel like messing his do up.
The guy I think needs to be there is Sjon Podein. Everytime he contributes to FSN or 45 he brings energy and enthusiasm and it is natural. Quite frankly I would rather watch the game while the two of them exchange NHL, NCAA, Team USA and High School war stories than listen to one of the current knot heads tell me, "the next goal either way will make or break the game." WOW really?
This site has pounded Lou, McGraw and Phil the thrill for years. What about this new woman? WOW she is bad, I dont care what you say anyone in the broadcasting industry should be able to ask a couple quick questions with out tripping over thier tongue. If you are getting a pay check for the job you better have some flow......She has no flow, insert your owne joke here.hahaha

I completely agree....I'd like to see Kevin Gorg be the reporter down on the ice...but I suppose it would be an issue, contractually speaking, since he is employed by FSN.

Lou is great, he is Minnesota hockey, even the favoritism, announcing for his son's team and now grandson's team. I think he has changed a little this year, a little more objective.

I wish 45 would get rid of Housley, there must be some ex-hockey player from Minnesota out there who could do better. Heck, Nanne isn't even from Minnesota!

I think the outstate teams can give Lou something to talk about. This will only be the sixth time in 20 years that a section 7 or section 8 team has not been in the championship game, and only the third time in 20 years that a section 7 or 8 team has not been in the semi's. So you city boys have had an all city final 6 times in 20 years playing out of 5 sections. Not to mention section 7AA has more metro teams than northern teams yet only one time in Section 7 history has a metro team won the section. look at the uphill battle section 7AA northern teams face just to get to state let alone making it to the championship game.....and the only two schools in northern AA that are true AA schools are Moorhead and possibly East (not sure if they opt up or not). Now I understand that the privates opt up as well, but you can't compare their opt up to a Roseau or Rapids opt up.

This year is a rare year in which there will not be a section 7 or 8 team playing in the semi's, so enjoy just like I enjoyed 1990, 1995, and 2007. It doesn't happen very often for you guys and it doesn't happen very often for us.

BTW, keep Lou until he retires. His voice is as much a part of the state tournament as the northern, southern, metro and private teams that make up the greatest high school tournament in the country.

As you can see by my name I was rooting hard for Roseau versus Edina, and even with his grandson playing on the team I really didn't think he sounded bias towards Edina. I guess I'll pay attention tonight when they play AV.

Well, while this is true, Louie joined the Gophers as a player in 1960, became a US citizen in 1967, and has spent his entire hockey professional life as a Minnesotan, and his business ventures.

Although we have legends like John Mariucci, John Mayasich, Herb Brooks, I would put up an argument that there has been and will never be a better ambassador to the State of Hockey as Louie.... from his kids playing in Minnesota... his grandkids playing in Minnesota.... as a player for the Gophers and North Stars, as a general manager, TV analyst.... he basically has not left the state in 50 years and still is avid from youth to professional hockey..

He still keeps in touch with his NHL buddies, scouts etc.....I am sure he has the scouting reports on all the top players in the tourney, and makes his educated analysis on what he sees.

Sorry folks. I get sick and tired of hearing that Lou hates northern teams and always favors Edina.

Ever hear him call a game which featured Dave Spehar or Aaron Ness?

He just latches on to someone or something about the game that he likes or dislikes and then goes over-the-top talking about it all the time. I could do without him too, except for the fact that would probably mean more of Housely.

I completly agree. I am sick of hearing about his love affair with Edina.

Not only is Lou Nanne a legend, he's actually a decent guy.

So what if he has grand kids that play hockey, and he just happens to know a lot about their team?

Leave Lou Alone!

Bronco -
Maybe you should find a replacement who can do a better job and get him 2 solid days of an internship over at mariucci where the 3 outstate teams will be playing and we'll keep Lou over at the Xcel where the 494/694 side of the bracket is playing this weekend.
