I was going off of the51's pairing that were up. Either way, Edina's first of Baker and Everson/Van Voorhis is better than Jefferson's second pairing.
Everson is a fifth defensemen on Edina but if i were to rank the top 4 D on each team i would have

1. Baker - LaBombard
2. Jarret - Faust
3. Regan - Pauluk
4. Van Voorhis - Cline
Everson started as a top line d and was moved due to injuries to Regan and Heck, the sixth d-man. Until Regan went down, Edina was using Baker and Regan every other shift and rotating Van Voorhis, Jarrett and Everson. Now that Edina is healthy, I don't know what will be done with the d, but I assume they will play 6 like they did in the beginning of the year.

Here is the order of defenseman in the game in my opinion
1. Baker
2. Faust
3. LaBombard
4. Regan
5. Pauluk
6. Jarrett
7. Everson
8. Van Voorhis
9. Cline
The rest are probably about even.

thats nonsense. Baker is good, but better than Faust? are you crazy?

Heres the real skinny:

1. Faust
2. LaBombard
3. Baker
4. Pauluk
5. Reagan
6. Everson

I dont know enough about Van Voorhis or Cline to make a determination in regards to them.

I also have not seen Jefferson play. My brother is a ref and he did their Blue-White game at the beginning of the season and he said they are very fast. I believe he is reffing another game soon, so he can give me another view. Edina, was the best team at the Schwans Gold tournament. yes the loyal AHA fan said that. But in the same sentence I will say we still have five weeks to go and someone will fall. Maybe Edina, maybe Jefferson. Players get hurt or worse, their heads get too big. In this match-up I give Edina the edge, but that is only because I have seen them play.

As a neutral third party in this arguement, putting Baker over Faust is ridiculous. Baker is a good defenseman, don't get me wrong I like the way he plays. But Faust is an elite player in the state let alone defenseman. He also provides offensive support that no other Edina defenseman can dream about. Sorry Faust over Baker in my book.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.

Really, Baker was one of the top defenseman in the Elite League and got looks from Denver, Harvard, Princeton , Yale and others before settling on Holy Cross because he didn't want to go to juniors. Those kind of offers make you elite. I honestly think that Baker is the most underrated player in the state, because of his height. If you saw Baker carry Edina to its win against EP, you'd think that he can support the offense similiar to Faust. Baker was Edina's top player for most of the year, before Anders Lee stepped up and started to dominate games like he did against AHA and Blaine. I am definitely biased on this, but I truly believe that Baker is an elite high school defenseman who is not as projectable to the next level, but is great in high school. If you have heard Ikola talk about Baker like he did in Edina's tv game last year and has been this year, you might agree.

As a college coach, I'd talk Faust over Baker in a second, but in high school, this year, I like Baker.

I'll agree with that, Faust probably has more upside, but as of right now Baker is a better player. In the D zone it would be hard to find anyone better than Baker.

This sounds about right to me. To be fair, Edina's gotten a lot more exposure than Jefferson over the past few years, and the opportunities for seeing Baker play (although he doesn't come up much in telecasts, with all the other players on Edina getting the attention) have been much more plentiful. But if I were forced to choose one defenseman in the state to stop any forward on a breakaway right now, I'd pick Baker, and that's saying something coming from a Duluth East fan.

Another thing to keep in mind is that with the strength of the Edina forwards, the defensemen really don't need to play that big of a role. On another team, players like Baker and Regan would probably pile up a lot more points. But they're in a situation where they can sit back and play lockdown defense while the forwards do most of the scoring.

Agreed, Faust is about 6 foot 180 lbs and Pauluk is 5 foot 6 140 pounds. Although I wouldn't underestimate the little man. He is a very solid defender and isn't afraid to get in on the offensive action. Oh and definately Van Voorhis over Cline.

51 that doesn't mean much cline is a senior with three times the expierence then van Vohris, cline isn't the flashy player he's got great hockey sense and smart with the puck.
