12/5/06 - HM 2, WBL 1, OT, Larson with the winner.

Which gives white bear even more reason to win they're due, I think Hill is gonna come unprepared for this game thinking they will blow right past them, but I have a feeling the bears are going to pull this one out

What exactly about those scores make you think Hill will be over confident? Every score up there was a fairly close game and WBL obviously is better than they were last year. I think Hill will be ready to play and I really doubt they will overlook WBL. Hill has not put the full court press on some of the early season conference games that most would believe to be easier games, so there is plenty of doubt there. WBL lost a couple games that were tossups, and I would put this right in that tossup category. Either team can win and neither result would suprise me at all or have all that much meaning when they likely meet in the sections next March. It will be close and fun to watch, so lets see if we can get a decent crowd in Aldrich...

Good points Sparlimb. I just hope the numerous injuries incurred by the Bears doesn't take away anything from the game. BTW, how is Pieper doing? Any updates.

All previous records are out the window with this one. It's all going to come down to which team shows up mentally and how physical it gets. As I recall in the section final last year there was only 1 penalty and the game was extremely close. Sure, Hill Murray did come out on top in the end and I congratulate them for it. But who's to say that'll happen again? Many of you are still riding the state title wave from last season while overlooking the fact that these are not the same teams. I'm not picking favorites for this one. I'm just preparing myself to watch a great game of hockey.

Wouldn't fairweater fans be likely to show up when their team is #1 in the state, defending state champs and undefeated? Can't think of a more likely time for a fairweather fan to show up.

This new sophmore is about to get his new start at "the big stage"
WB vs Hill is arguable the biggest rivalry in state, and packs in Aldrich where you have to stand back by the ticket counters. I dont think he will handle the pressure, and Owen's beein doin it a couple years now...

I have a question.. i am from st cloud thinking about driving down to the game to see a great hs hockey game.. from my understanding this game will be packed? is it a big arena? how early do some of you suggest to make it to the arena for the 8 oclock start time?

Aldrich is fairly big yes, Im not 100% sure on how many it holds? But I would get there around 6 45 or 7...Some would say earlier but I know you will FOR SURE get a seat around then. If you come at 8 right before it starts? youll either be standing in line or could be taking a long drive back...but I thinnk 7 will be just fine.

Aldrich seats about 3,000. Last year it was packed early. But - it was a Saturday and it was Hill-Murray's 25 yr anniversary celebration of the 1983 State Championship team. This year will not be as crowded. The JV game is at 6pm. It will also probably be a good game. You should get there by 7 to get a good seat. Sit on the HM side. More goals will be celebrated there.

There is no "unprepared" when Hill and WBL play. Both teams play harder than they have or will do all season because this is such a huge rivalry game.

I figure my first post should be on one of the biggest rival annual games of the state. Hill will keep coming at them like woodbury did, with more accuracy. White Bears defense is suspect, and cant handle sustained pressure. Not a fan of Hill, but Hill will win this 4 to l

Well if you weren't so dumb, you woulda known that he said over confident, which would mean your too confident in thinking your team is going to win, not lose. So you just tried to go off on him about not making sense, but actually you made no sense in your post.

Youth

Post by MedleyWR »

The Bears are young this year, with only 5 seniors. They have as many sophomores as they do seniors. Maybe the inexperience has contributed to the Bear's inconsistency this year. Then again, some of the younger players are playing very well and the team would struggle without them. This leads me to believe that as the season progresses, the experience these young players gain will start to show and the Bears will be very tough to beat. Tonight's game is tough to call, but look for the Bears at tournament time.

Pumped to see the elusive Hill-Murray student section. Even more pumped for a solid hockey game. I agree with the those who say the Bears are a young team and will prosper come tournament time, but I still expect a close game tonight and a ridiculous White Bear student section as always.

Who cares what has happened in the past 8 meetings, that doesn't matter in rivalries, the adrenaline and emotion in games like these are bigger then the records from the past 8 games.

It does make sense. Perfect sense at that. White Bear student fans are over confident that their Bears will defeat Hill.
