Better yet "NO evaluators with kids in the tryout process"Factsmatter1 wrote:Please fix the Select 15 process. It's pretty bad in some districts and ok in others. Standardize the tryout process across the districts. No less than 6 evaluators MINIMUM. If no action then get rid of the program and let the kids wait until 16 and 17 which is significantly better.

The matter of 2009 state was pulled because they could not get all the time at the X that was needed. The one iste event would still have been on record and used in the following year(s).TriedThat2 wrote:From what I was told, the rescinded vote was just a formality. The X had scheduling conflicts, and could not accomdate.
In fact they indicated they may try and still do it.
St Thomas was denied an affiliation agreement.hockeydog64 wrote:Congratulations! Your hard work paid off!elliott70 wrote:On site tournament rescnded by a vote of 20 to 3.
What was the resolution on the private school affiliation agreement issues (St. Thomas and Holy Family)?
Holy Family was extended for two years at which time it will expire (I believe this is what passed).

Interesting. Is the expecation at this time that in two years both Blake and Holy Family will sunset, and there will be no more private school affiliations? Is the door now closed to a private school or other private organization making an arrangement with an existing affiliation (e.g., the St. Thomas - Richfield deal that occurred last year)?elliott70 wrote:St Thomas was denied an affiliation agreement.hockeydog64 wrote:Congratulations! Teh directin Blake was given was to 'attach' to an affiliate where the school is located or where a majortiy of the players live. Then form a team under the community based affiliate. Then they can draw kids from the local assn if needed or pass on their kids to the local if they cannot handle all of them.
There were so many amendments going on and going back and forth and when I stepped out, I assumed or was told that the same thing as Blake was passed, but I cannot confirm it.TriedThat2 wrote:Can anyone confirm the Holy Family issue? I heard that it DID NOT pass.
I don't think you can stop a private organization making an agreement with an existing affiliate.

Thanks for the information. So if I understand this correctly, private schools (or possibly other private organizations) will still be able to form a team if they can find an association to attach to (like St. Thomas did with Richfield last year). But hopefully we won't see what we did last year with a team playing its season in one district and being in the playoffs in another.elliott70 wrote:Blake & Holy Family will sunset, no more private school affilates.hockeydog64 wrote:Interesting. I don't believe Holy Family has recently fielded a Bantam team with their affiliate agreement which will sunset in two years.
St. Thomas will not have a bantam team as MN Hockey has voted to keep youth hockey entirely with youth hockey associations. Youth hockey associations have decided against favoring the formation of additional youth hockey teams in their communities and will no longer host additional bantam teams for schools. MN Hockey's vote is in support of their many member youth hockey associations. All communities, and the players that reside there, are currently covered by existing youth hockey associations and the need for additional bantam teams, at a level where numbers already shrink, isn't viewed as necessary by the broad majority.
Blake will sunset in two years. That is when their affiliate agreement expires.
This is good news as youth hockey will return entirely to the responsibility of youth hockey associations. Because there are no new affiliate agreements, and youth hockey organizations don't favor forming additional youth teams in their communities, hockey will have clear delineation between youth hockey (squirt, peewee and bantam, U10, U12 & U14) and all school hockey (high school). Not just private schools but all schools will host only high school teams. I think this is the best solution in regards to this discussion.
Thank you Minnesota Hockey for supporting your long time member youth associations with this vote. Maybe Blake will choose to end their bantam team this season?

HS Bantam teams
If we think this is the end of the discussion regarding school sponsored Bantam teams - I would guess we would be wrong.
Bernie is doing his thing at MM. Shattuck does theirs. The Fire in WI (yea - right - mostly in Minnesota).
There will be those who will just try something else. Will it be an AAU sponsored league? The Catholic League has football and other sports - would they just have thier own Bantam legaue for Catholic schools and private schools for Bantam teams? Minnehaha Academy used to run a bantam team through the Minneapolis Park system - not sure if they still do.
Not sure what they will do - or what they are thinking - but seems to me if they want to do something - there are ways. And all of those possibilities mean Minnesota Hockey loses players.
Any word on if any of these schools - especially St. Thamas - are going to try to go in another direction?

Yes, if they find someone willing to work with them, they can form a team.hockeydog64 wrote:Thanks for the information. Hopefully, playing a season in one league and the play-offs in another will not happen again.
