Mauer was at it again tonight...

Watched a called 3rd Strike w/ the bases loaded in the 7th...
Rumor has it that Gardy was heard to say "Super job there kid, you showed tremendous patience in the box, you'll get that walk next time"...

By the way, nice win Twinkies :!: :D

"Twins Fall To Royals, Mauer Has Good At Bat vs Helmet"

Kansas City. The Twins are back to .500 as Francisco Liriano struggled in his first comeback attempt since having surgery on his left elbow.
The Twins hitters provided no support except Joe Mauer destroyed a helmet with a great at bat after going 0-12 in the series.

It was the best at bat Mauer has had since his history making foul out which was hailed by minnhock poster GR3343 as one of the greatest at bats of all time. But the Twins catcher has found it difficult to live up to the lofty expectations that followed. "We've told him not to press so much and to just relax" manager Ron Gardenhire said. "You cant expect to foul out every time up" Gardy added.

The Twins open up a series tonight vs the Tigers which they hope to win for a successful road trip.

"Morneau 3-0 Swing Could Bring Fine, Suspension"

Detroit. Justin Morneau drove a shot into the outfield seats at Comerica Park last night for a 2 run homer to put the Twins ahead 4-1 in what should ave been the winning blow for the Twins. However the most overated bullpen in baseball failed to hold the lead.

But the controversy surrounding the homerun might spell trouble for the big first basemen. Many fans and Minnhock posters are upset about the swing. "He could have made the pitcher throw at least 3 more pitches" GR3343 complained.

Twins manger Ron Gardenhire also took notice. "We'd like to see him take a couple of good picthes to hit, maybe foul a few off, and then foul out in that situation" Gardy said.

"The 3-0 pitch was a beachball that a Little Leaguer could have hit out" Morneau said but the slugger quickly added "But for me to swing at it was selfish because it doesnt get the on deck guy enough pitches to see."

Twins management wouldnt say what disciplinary action would be taken but it has been a practice to fine and sit players for agressively hitting good pitches. "Its just not Twins baseball" Nick Punto said.

The Twins open a series with The Rays and hope to get back on the winning track.

I hear what you are saying GR... I just get frustrated w/ Mauer, especially when he has men on base and he lets some very good pitches go, and then repeatedly he gets put into a 2-2 or 1-2 count and he gets nothing to hit.
The called third strike w/ bases loaded just typilfies what these Twins batters are being told by Vavre or whomever.

It's frustrating to see such an accomplished hitter as Joe Mauer, continue to give up good pitches to extend the count. I'd like to see him jump on some of those grooved pitches early in the count. Better pitches to hit, better results...

I expected a lot more out of these headlines. The Star isn't as creative as I thought they would be.

"Twins Acquire Thomas to Bolster Offense"

Minneapolis. The Minesota Twins today acted swiftly and decisively in picking up Frank Thomas who was recently realeased by the Toronto Blue Jays to add some much needed punch to the lineup.

GM Bill Smith said "This something we should had done a long time ago but instead have opted for worthless has beens like Brent "No Brainer" Boone".

"We don't care what it costs, we have pitching and we need some offense" Jim Pohlad explained.

Thomas is expected to join the Twins in time for the series opener in Oakland.

Oh, ah, sorry boys, I meant to post this in the Dream thread.

You have to be kidding. You would actually want that head case playing for the twins
