Twins Headlines, A 2008 Diary

Post by Irishmans Shanty »

It might be interesting to create a running log of the 2008 marathon by captioning every game through the wisdom and creativity of the local communist manifesto.

Game #1, MIN 3, LAA 2: "Steals, wheels spark Twins"

Game #2, LAA 9, MIN 1: "So much for a Twins encore"

Game #3, LAA 1, MIN 0: "Starter Fine, But Offense Missing"

I like it.

Lets see what the Red Star and their ultra liberal staff can come up with game after game.

I wonder how long it will be before the headline reads: "What the boof do these guys do in Florida"

Yes, this could be interesting.

How many times will "Starter Fine: But Offense Missing" run this year?

Are there any former Twins on KC that are just oh so emotional about leaving here because they had the opportunity to make more money than any one could ever possibly need ?

I hope not because I got sick of listeneng to that drivel.

Lets go. Hit the ball and change the headlines.

Carlos Gomez looks like a game changing player at times and at others he looks lost. Here's to hoping he can find a happy medium in the next year or so.

Game #6, MIN 6, KC 4: "Morneau homers in Twins' victory over KC"

I rather like this one, not creative, but hey, it's the weekend. What do you expect?

He's definitely raw, but fun to watch.

Neutron was right about a "slam".

Game #8, CWS 7, MIN 4: "Crede's seventh-inning slam sinks Neshek, Twins"

"Twins Find Another Way to Lose...This Time Its The Bullpen"

With an anemic offense, this team will lose a lot of games in different ways.

I can see this as a headline and story line in todays world.

"Twins Bad At Bats Lead to Offensive Explosion"

Chicago. Even though no Twins hitter worked the count to 20 pitches before fouling out, the team scored a season high 12 runs in a win over the Pale Hose on a cold night in The Windy City.

Twins rightfielder Jason Kubel hit a grand slam on the first pitch to put the game out of reach. "I was trying to foul it off to get the guy on deck a better chance but it ended up in the seats instead" Kubel said.

Ron Gardenhire said : "We talked to Kubel about that first pitch swing and he promised it wouldnt happen again. " "We like to see a guy foul out after a few pitches and have a good at bat in that situation" Gardy also said.

The Twins hope that this agressive style of hitting wont continue and they can get back to having good at bats and scoring a lot less runs.

" We dont want our pitchers working with any kind of cushion" pitching coach Rick Anderson lamented.

A closed door team meting was held and reports are that Joe Mauer confronted Kubel about his reckless behvior in the batters box.

"I think things got worked out" a players spoksemen said.

The Twins are in action again tonight in Chicago to wrap the series.
