Brainerd wasn't lucky. It was just a well played good hockey game and GR came up one short. The 1 goal scored was a nice play, nice shot, that's that. I thought GR carried the play a little more, and looked to be the better team, but they also didn't capitalize on their chances and Brainerd did. I will say that the quality scoring chances were equal even though GR outshot Brainerd by 10. If and when they play again, it should be a coin flip. Good job by both teams. Especially GR's tenders, they were outstanding the whole tourney.

OK...i will admit that both teams played good but it looked like to me that if rapids was on their game could have easily beat brainerd...brainerd got lucky because rapids didnt come to play up to thier fully potential.. all rapids has to do is be consistent and ready to play every game... just my opinion dont have to freak out...

Didn't think anyone was freaking out. If one team scores a nice goal and the other team scores none, how does the team that scored end up being "lucky". Both teams played well. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Deal with it.

Fanman....I'm curious, other than not scoring a goal, how was GR not on their game? It looked to me like they were working pretty hard and had alot of great chances to score. Brainerd's goalie played awesome, as did GR. It looked like GR showed up to play. Give both teams the credit they deserve for a well played EVENLY matched game....No excuses!

No problem. I thought GR would run right by Brainerd, but Brainerd surprised me. They're a nice team with good goaltending. Should be interesting in the regions should both teams get there and face each other. These two had some good battles as Pee Wee A's. If I remember right, GR came out on top in regions back then. Like I said, coin flip should they play again.

I feel FANMAN put it best, a coin flip could decide the next meeting. GR appeared to be ready and Brainerd came out slow which is where the extra ten shots came from IMO. Once Brainerd got on track it was either teams game to win. Had GR scored in the early surge and lost would you still be saying they weren't ready? Their goalies gave up one goal in three games shutting out a very good Lakeville South team and allowing one goal in the championship, can we at least assume the goalies were ready? If GR scores on one of their many odd man rushes or breakaways and happens to win would we still be saying, they'll be ready next game? It was a great hockey game, excuses take away from the effort given by both teams. During the game you could hear many other parents telling their young players, "this is how the game should be played!" That alone is a compliment to both teams.

When you read all these posts it starts to sound like GR wants to be as good as Brainerd.

Again, well said. Why can't it be that these are two very good teams who should make a late season run? GR looked ready to play as did Brainerd. Both teams are pretty equal on the ice. Both teams are also very good.

I do hope that these 2 teams do face each other later in and entertain us with another great Bantam hockey game! You can tell that both teams are very well coached.

ok didnt u just think that maybe that gr did show up to play bcz i mean they definatly put up some quality chances, several breakaways, along with 40 shots to brainerds 30 all i can say is goaltending wins games, and thats what happend, not much you can do when a goalie is hott, and i have to give GRs Larson credit too he played a good game, and from what i heard he played great in the games prior, so just so next time u dont have to make the excueses that GR didnt show up just never take any team lightly, and youll never have taht problem again, because from what i understand, thats exactly what happed here?

Good point. See the GR - Virginia thread.
