No predictions from me this time. Was way off for the Hibbing tourney.

Pairings :

Cloquet vs Forest Lake Fri @ 6pm
Brainerd vs Buffalo Fri @ 7:45pm
Crookston vs Lakeville S Sat @ 8am
Grand Rapids vs Owatonna Sat @ 9:45

Good luck to all involved especially the orange and black.

Any more feedback about this tourney? Just checking, it's been pretty quiet.

Hey Nutz,
How good is Lakeville South do you a scouting report on them?
Who have they beat or lost to?
I'll take the North in this tourny also.

Don't dis Elliot, he's very wise.

Here is some of their scores.

7-4 over Elk River
4-0 over Roseville
5-4 over Moorhead
5-3 over Woodbury
5-2 over Lakeville north
3-2 over Hermantown

The key to them is goaltending they have McNeely, who is the top 93 goalie in the state. He is big and very agile hard to get much by him. Very solid in nets, the skaters are small, quick and move the puck well. I think if you are a solid defensive team, keep them outside and don't let them get close, they buzz the net, you will do well. they don't have the big cannon shooters and they aren't physical more finess. They have 3 equal lines and that is what hurts most teams against them, they aren't 3 strong lines but just enough that you can't match up against.

I heard they have 2 kids out with broken wrists but don't know the current status of them.

I take it you are a GR fan?

I am just stating that elliot is very proud of the northern teams. no harsh words meant.

Pucknutz69,
Indian Head is brainerd, you have them losing to LS.
I,ll take,

Cloquet vs Forest Lake (Cloquet)
Brainerd vs Buffalo (Brainerd)
Crookston vs Lakeville (Crookston)
Grand Rapids vs Owatonna (GR)

Cloquet vs Brainard = Brainerd
Crookston vs GR =Crookston (GR, they want the game against the Brain, forget to win this one)

Forest Lake vs Buffalo = Buffalo (sarted to score some goals)
Lakeville S vs Owatonna = Lakeville S

Consolation
Buffalo vs Lakeville S = Lakeville S (miss match)
3rd place
Cloquet vs GR = GR (miss match)

Ship
Crookston vs Brainerd = Brainerd

GR wins the shootout over Lakeville S 3-2. Quite a game. Big hits, great goaltending on both ends. Hard fought w for GR. Sets up the game everyone wanted to see against Brainerd. Should be another dandy.

Quit Whinning Benelli........Brainerd got the job done and played a great game. GR had 2 power plays and didn 't get the Job done. You're right, GR also played a good game, but today Brainerd was did what they needed to get the W.

I would say GR came out of the gates faster but, once Brainerd started playing it was an even game I thought. Both teams had good scoring chances, odd man rushes and breakaways. I think both goalies were nothing short of amazing in this game! GR did have two PP's to Brainerds none. Both teams had a chance to win this game. These teams could meet later if they both can get to regions, that would be another game I'd like to see. Good games to come in 7AA as these teams get into high school.

I would agree GR came out of the gates and worked Brainerd the first 5 min. Brainerd adjusted and had a few more quality scoring chances than Rapids throughout the game. Brainerd killed off 2 penalties. Grand Rapids is a good team and it was a great Bantam hockey game. I think Brainerd had a little better team speed and Rapids had more size. I would pick these teams teams to compete in the north region to go to the show. I also would like to know how Brainerd got lucky the goal was a nice shot to the upper corner on a play where the Brainerd team made a nice play to get a player loose on a breakaway.
