Nearing the end of the season and with the last couple of threads having a bit of a debate...im gonna go with a theme today. drum roll...  Coach Guy's Top 10 1. EP-Red - Peak of shape, perfect health, couple scares but shook em off like a champ. Continue what you're doing and you'll be fine. 2. Hastings - Finally saw this patient, and holy cow! Recently picked up a prescription for speed, and using it to its full effect. Reccomend not overlooking opponents, and destoying the D8 playoffs 3. EP-Black - Ya just had the wind knocked out of ya son... Take two asprin and call us in the morning. Reccomend same as Hastings (overlooking), and deep breathing exercises till you get your breath back. 4. Elk River - Still getting over a case of the hiccups...Take a glass of water, stand on your head, and drink it upside down, while plugging your ears, and singing yankee doodle dandy in front of your girl friends parents. 5. WBL-Orange - Rumor has it you might come see the doctor again on saturday night...Reccomend taking this prescription for relaxant, and mixing it with some nyquil...yawn? feeling tired yet? Good...there ya go, slow down. 6. Tartan - Should have a nice work out Friday and Saturday before possible exaustion on Sunday. Reccomend staying out of the Casino, and focused on the rubber match with WBLO or a revenge game with Roseville 7. Roseville - Good to see that you took dr.'s orders and rested this week. I see you get some stick handling back from injury this weekend....Reccomend thursday off, before your gut check this weekend. 8. Centennial - This patient is just cruising...All check ups are great. Reccomend gaining a point vs a quality opponent. 9.Rochester Red - Obviously more than a one man show, this patient has show great strides and is prepared for stretch run in D8. 10. Burnsville - MEDIC! Get out the defibulators, not sure if this team has any heart(without #11). Reccomend rest and prescribe some painkillers...Mahtomedi game hurt, and possible bruising could occur in next couple of weeks with out it. Stop the Bleeding! Edina - bleeding stopped a month ago and patient is recovering ahead of schedule. Might contend if progress continues. WBL-Black - Steady Heart beat and ready to step up. Minnetonka - Get this Rittalin Script, and stay focused RAVE - Came out of the coma did a dance, then dropped back into it like Deniro in that movie with Robin Williams DOA Anoka Mahtomedi Osseo Wessy's BAA Forest lake Albert Lea

THis is tentative but my feeling on how the mhl will play out. I havent seen any scores for the past week so correct me on records and points. 1. Tartan(18-2-1): Great team but could be beaten down by physical play. 2. EP Black(17-1-1): Great puck movement. Possibly best puck movement in League. Not completely unbeatable but hard to beat. 3. ER(16-2-1): Good team but we played them and there goaltending was suspect. Great speed and some great shots. 4. WBL Orange(14-3-1): Tough and Rough team. Depends on how game is called by zebras. Great shots and puck movement. 5. EP Red(14-2-0): Theses two are really interchangeable. I have not seen a game personally but cant imagine an EP team thats not good. Depends on schedule, they play us so..... 6. Rave(14-6-1): YEs i am puting us in here but it could swing, depends on EP red hopkins and Roseville games. when we play we play, when we dont we really dont. 7. Cent(14-4-0): I havent seen a game yet but there record is pretty good. 8. Burnsville(10-2-1): Depends on Ian gordon i guess, coach doesnt seem confident but who knows, I have seen two completely different burnsville teams play. They got skill and talent, can they piece it together? They could be up at 6 or down here. 9. Roseville(12-4-3): I dont know about them much but I C that they have tied three good teams in WBL B, WBL O, EDina. losses to good teams as well, who knows. 10. MTKA(13-5-1): we played horrible against them for three full periods, they are alright when they arent stoned before games. Definately beatable but tough when playing well. 11. WBL B(9-5-3): Suspect goaltending has hurt there stock. Great physical play but lacking some speed. 12. Edina(9-6-1): We were with them, we pussed out and lossed. If you stay physical with them, they back down. Superb goaltending, dont know who he is but damn. JUST MISSED LIST: Brooklyn Park(9-8-1): Good but not that good, needing more wins. Hopkins(8-10-2): cant be under 500 with ties to NSP and SLP and still lose to chaska. SLP(6-7-4): still could suprise. I hear they have been playing but too little to late or just the right time???

Coach guy, the dance out of coma has not come to a hault yet... I dont think you can say it was coma considering we played well since that weekend and further more we beat your team. We played three full periods and deserved and earned that win against you, and ER. THE DANCE CONTINUES!!!!Cant take credit away from my defense, they have played incredible this year as opposed to the other two years in this league. This is by far the most talented team i have ever played on and the best record a RAVE JR Gold B team has ever put up. Last year we tied the record for most wins by a rave jr gold b team with 6. Now we have a chance to put up 17... gotta give us some credit, we rebuilt our association around some winners.

hey rave35, It feels good doesn't it! This is also the best roseville JGB team ever. We have already won 20+ games this year overall, and will have a top 8 ranking by the end of the year barring any upsets. I remember your team from last year and its great to see teams move up the ladder out of mediocrity like our two teams have.

This is the best year of Jr Gold that SLP has ever had too. Oh, wait this is SLP's first ever Jr. Gold season. Maybe that is why. Sorry, I just had too.

Not to take anything away from what your team has accomplished, but it helps when your assoc. doesn't have an A team. All your best players, "A" players, are playing at a "B" level. But you are not the only Assoc. that is doing that. Good luck. Hope to see you in the playoffs. BVILLE

I completely agree with you bville coach, however, the reason we have no A team is becuase there are six or so kids that went to your team that have made it no longer possible for Rave to have an A team. They have repromanded it due to the fighting by certain players. Not saying its all there fault but we have been stuck with a bad rep for ever and now are starting to fix it.

If I am correct, the players that came to me were among the players that actually finished the season last year with RAVE. I have had no problems with fights from any of the players that came to Burnsville. We have not had one 3 game suspension for fighting. So I'm not sure that is was these players that gave RAVE a bad rep. and caused them to not have an "A" program. Please correct me if I am wrong. BVILLE

Last year you probably didnt coach nor watch a Jr. Gold B or a game. Obviously you didnt watch their edina tournament becuase I can name three players who came away with five game suspensions. I will keep names anonymous due to being friends still with these players. however, I am not trying to creat trouble just adding to what you said about our A program or what it was. Tom Slaird took care of it before the season, we now can only have a JR Gold B and a U16 team(s). Again not saying anything bad about your players accept the dilinquent and bashing of the sprinklers, along with the refs face. I am wishing yiou guys luck and hope we do get to see you guys in playoffs cuz it would be fun game to play in... enough said as a rivalry or whatever, good luck and see you in playoffs.

As far as the sprinkler basher goes, he has not seen the ice since that happened. As I mentioned, I have had no problems with fighting from these guys. I don't know what changed from last year but they have just been playing hockey. And yes, it would be fun to see you in the playoffs. I do think with six losses the number six rating is a little high. Just an opinion. Good luck with the rest of your schedule. BVILLE

I thought this was a Top 10 string? Anyway ... here is the 1st one of the week: 1. Elk River (Someone beat these guys, please) 2. Tartan (Fire Power-must be nice to play B) 3. EP Black (Good, but we'll see come playoff time) 4. EP Red (These guys are for real - tough enough to win it) 5. SSP (There, you guys happy? Nice W over Roch Red) 6. Roch Red (Haven't seen 'em, but they tell me they're good) 7. WB Orange (Steady and ready for the playofffs) 8. Hastings (Late-season slump?) 9. Roseville (tough games won & lost - let's see) 10. hey Rave35, not sure if you know or not, but you havent played my team yet... I am with Roseville. So therefore you could not have beaten us already. My top ten should look a little diffrent this week, and hey rave35 dont look at the wins when you are trying to figure out standings placement. Look at the losses. You already have 6 losses....

Why is ssp not in the top ten (in most people's rankings) we are 13-2 atm best in district 8 (record wise, but have played more games then hastings) we've shown we can beat the top teams. just curious to know why no one picks us in the top ten.... SSP Captain #13

Here's the abbreviated "I have to get something done at work or I won't have any work to do" edition of the Top Ten: 1. Elktown - 22-2-1. Anyone else cheering for Hopkins and Osseo right about now? 2. EP USSR - Will lose to either RAVE or Roseville AND Black. 3. Steak Tar-tan - A little raw yet. Focus on defense in the coming weeks. 4. Hasty - Will they have success with officials in Blaine? 5. EP Darkside - Losing the Hornet border battle really hurt. 6. Rose by any other name - No one seems to be improving as rapidly. 7. Packerland (not GB) - El capitan complains about not being ranked, right under a post where he's ranked top 5. Watch the birdie. 8. Braves Forever - Lulling you all to sleep with pleas of how bad they are. Final four team. 9. Orange-a-tans - Still solid, but need some others to fall to move up. 10. Cake-town - Be the best by beating the best - one of them anyway. The giant awakens. 11. RAVE-FBI-CIA-UPS - a bit inconsistent, but capable on any given night. Just might shock Red at home Friday. 12. The other Red - Boys from down south with a nice upset. Don't hear much. They may sneak up on ya. Apologies to: Sesqui-Centennial - Great team, but the top 12 is a full stable. Blame the D8 teams. Black Bear Lake - Coming on strong. Still time to crack the top ten.

sorry coach guy thought you were from tartan at first. I do see that we have lost six, i also see that if we win out we should be between 6-8 in league. I am not saying we will win out but we have should that if we play well there isnt a team we cant beat... I also agree that sixth is a little high for us... I do also agree with bville coach who said the same...

hockey observer i need to know why you think we are at 11? I dont think that we will drop that far... If we win 2 of the remaining three we will be atleast eighth... are we not capapble of beating roseville and EP R or what?? granted we do have tough losses but we have tough wins and are playing out of our minds right now... can we beat them???(unsarcasticly and needs opinion)

here are my thoughts... 1. Tartan: they are good, some great speed and can hit 2. Elk river: did have a great team. Need to keep on winning 3.EP red: they will need to beat RAVE and Roseville to stay here. May only lose to one or the other. 4. WBL orange: these guys are big and physical. Great team. 5. Roch Red: Yes they were beat by the packers. In Albert Lea they had the top goalie. Is he still the man to beat? 6. EP Black: they slid down from the begginning. Still dominant but not as dominant. 7. SSP: Also held by goaltending. He can make some miraculous saves but are they capapble of puting another streak together. 8. Hastings: Great speed, gained a goalie over the off season, good at home. 9/10. RAVE/Bville: gonna be a good battle for spots in MHL. Can B'ville beat Tartan and/or WBL Orange. can RAVE beat Roseville and/or EP red + hopkins? ALSO COULD APPEAR Roseville: EP red and RAVE, have to beat one or the other if not both. Edina: Is it possible to win out, they may...

OMG the RAVE team sucks like nothing else. I have seen better squirt C teams play. They are also very gay. At their last game all the players took off their shirts and put on cowboy hats like it was a gay rodeo or something. RAVE should be in last place because they suck. They will never beat EP Red. and RAVECOWBOY is a total @#%$ @#%$ who really sucks.

Rave35, You were off to such a good start being enthusiastic, yet diplomatic. Lately, you are sounding more like your cowboy friend. Just in case you missed a game or 2 due to illness (mental or physical) in the past 2.5 months, I'll help you out: RAVE Wins: SLP, Anoka, MVs (G&W), Wessy, Chaska, NSP, Osseo, Mahts, ER, Tart, Buf, Wayzata, FLake, Armstrong.(15) RAVE Losses: BP, EPBlack, Edina, WBs (O&B) & Tonka. (That's 6) And one (1) tie to BAA - that's been beaten enough. You are listed 6th or 7th in the MHL only because you have played more games. RAVE (and yourself) are playing better with impressive Ws vs the Tarts & Elks. There are three (3) teams from D8 that would put up a good fight vs RAVE. (Probably beat ya'll) You have a chance, but a slim one to beat both Roseville and EP Red. From what I've seen and heard - they're going to take those games from you. Don't feel slighted, post your own Top 10 and put your self on top, then we'll laugh and it'll be funny! Thanks for your time.

How can you have tartan at number 1 and wbl orange at 4, after we beat both of them to win the carlton tourney this weekend. Then to top it off you dont even rank us, when everbody else has us at least 9 or higher, If standings were all that mattered we would be in trouble. These rankings are always a "what have you done for me lately" (random janet jackson quote "popin out"). You take into account the past with emphasis on the present and then come up with your rankings. Not just look at the current metroleague standings...

The Rat, more eloquently than usual, has hit on some of the finer points for you rave35. But, in my own words, here is why . . . The MHL standings and the JGB rankings are different. We have to take into account D8 teams and sometimes go by hearsay. RAVE has great potential. I actually expect you to beat Red, but - to answer your question - no, I don't think you'll beat Roseville. [Turn down the grin, CG from RV. I can see your teeth from here!] Not that you are not capable, I just don't think it will happen. It's like a coin flip. I can call tails, but you don't really know until it flips over. RAVE has been too inconsistent early, but are becoming steadier as of late. And will continue to climb if they stay steady. The other reason you are #11, is that this league is so jam packed with teams that have all beaten each other, the easiest list would be 4 teams tied for #1 and 6 teams tied for #5. I move that, as it is his/her first post, we ignore the ramblings of RAVESUCKS. Rat has seconded. All in Favor? Aye! Motion seconded, carried and ratified. Don't be offended rave35, just entitle me to my opinion and prove me (us) wrong. Go get 'em!!
