I agree that Ridder is too packed. Maybe not so much for the game but it really just doesn't work well for the transition between games. People want to get good seats but you can't very well becasue there are still people from the previous game watching. Then it gets distracting to the people trying...

I'm assuming all of you guys complaining about filling the X are all parents...have you ever thought of what it means for the players to play there...personally when i'm playing, i don't hear the fans i don't even look at the fans...i'm focused on the game...but it really means a lot to play in the ...

Bonapace may not be a candidate for Ms. Goalie 2008, but I wouldn't leave her out in 2010. She was AP All State HM last year as a freshman, and she keeps the scores of her games a lot closer and stops a lot of good scoring opportunities. She's battling mono this year so probably isn't at her best, b...

Most high school hockey players who want to see playing time are going to be playing DIII in reality. Very few go on to play DI. And if they want to stay in Minnesota and in this case the MIAC, they're going to have to face the harsh reality that they're going to be paying 30K a year. If a player re...

Maybe this is just rumor, but I heard you can now (as of this year) intentionally direct it in with your skate as long as you don't make a kicking motion. Once the kicking motion is made, it'll get called off. What about the Mayo and Austin game coming up here next week? That one's always a close ga...

There is no doubt that Rochester does not have a goalie problem. I really feel for Maidl because like Jet said, there's no one to protect her out front. I'd get raddled too knowing I don't have any defense in front of me! Bonapace has a great work ethic! She's always finding ways to improve. She too...

there is indeed evidence of girls dropping out...if there weren't girls dropping out we'd be able to field the teams we need...it's more in the youngest levels of hockey that they are dropping out...i know that from when i coached supermites, not all the girls are still in hockey...once they hit the...

I actually was not at the game. I heard a lot about it though. I've never seen Clay play but I know Moffit, and I know w/o a doubt that he knows what he's talking about. Mayo will have a strong team and strong coaching for years to come. But sooner or later, someone will hand them their first loss i...

let's see if mayo had around 42 shots on net and bonapace has a 96% save percentage...you do the math...i don't know about you but that makes for a heck of a lot closer game...katie was extremely brave for stepping up in net! and congrats to her on her first start as a goalie! great girl w/ a good a...

what i'm saying is that the MSHSL wouldn't get involved and said that the big 9 needs to make their own decision...and we didn't start taking girls from figure skating until this whole situation started and that's simply b/c we wanted to at least find girls who could stand on their feet... i do thin...

I predict a closer game. Yeah Mayo will probably outshoot JM 2:1 at least like most of the other teams. But Bonapace has been stronger then ever and kept them in every game. The younger players have also stepped up for JM's losses last year. Lemish has proved that she's been able to score points, bu...

this is just my own opinion, but i think the u14 goalie could use the experience at the u14 level instead of moving up to mayo. rochester didn't have a u14 program so i'm assuming she's making the jump from u12 to high school which is a big jump and shouldn't be made if it can be avoided. i think sh...

it depends what you mean by a chance. if you're talking a section/big 9 title, i think that's stretching it...if you're talking about staying in games, there's a chance....i think they may pull off some surprises... as far as for their future, they're only going to get better...there's some excelent...

It's hard to say how the JM Farmington game will be. Both teams lost some significant players, and JM was able to keep a two point game last year. Goalie Michelle Bonapace really kept JM in the game tho getting over 60 shots and only allowing 3. If she plays like she did last year, JM will be able t...

Leadership's role in promoting girl's hockey
It's been a big talk about how to get youth girls involved and/or interested in playing girls (high school) hockey. Many teams have many different ways of promoting this but all in all I think it comes down do the fact that leadership of the high school girls is ultimately what drives and keeps girl...
