I have to agree with 218er, this is a magnificent thread. Just a guess as to how the rest of the rankings will turn out: 8. International Falls 7. St. Paul Johnson 6. Duluth East 5. Grand Rapids 4. Bloomington Jefferson 3. Hill-Murray 2. Roseau 1. Edina I can't wait to see how I did.

I'm kind of confused. I was not at the game, so I don't know when Jordan came in. According to the MSHSL official play by play of the game, he came in during the first overtime while WBL was on the power play, played the rest of the OT and gave up no goals. Posts here seem to indicate that he came i...

I agree that the "race to teh hash marks" would be a nice change. I don't think you'll ever see the "no line change after an icing" in high school because of the fear of injury. In some of the mismatch games, kids could be on the ice for an extended time, which could increase the...

So sections should be rearranged to avoid "cakewalk" sections. Do you mean like the one that Hill-Murray had this year?

Just for the record django, LaValle is not first line, he's second. The first line is Bahe, Bruski and Guentzel. Anyone who was at the game and saw the third period could see that Hill was making little or no effort to score. The goal was a soft flip from the point man that went in.

LaValle played and had a hat trick. And, yes, Como is that bad. It could easily have been 25 or 30 if Hill wanted it to be. I don't think Hill's first line saw the ice in the third period and it was obvious that they were passing up good shots to cycle the puck rather than score any more.

While I agree with PPG in principle when it comes to scheduling non-conference games against weak teams, it is only fair to point out that many teams schedule non-conference games against section teams to bolster their case in seeding meetings. Stillwater's non-conference schedule is very respectabl...

Hockey Mn1: While I agree that Eden Prairie should probably be ranked #1, I cna also see Karl's rationale for putting Hill-Murray there,a t least for now. Granted, EP beat Hill, but it was a game that was pretty much dead even. Less than two weeks ago, both teams played Holy Angels within two days o...

It is important to remember a few years back, Hill-Murray played in the Twin Cities Suburban Conference with WBL, Anoka, Blaine, Stillwater, etc. That conference split into the Suburban East and Northwest Suburban and Hill-Murray was asked (actually told wold be a better word) to leave the conferenc...

HM won the JV game 7-3. It was 2-0 EP with a minute left in teh second period. Hill got a goal to make it 2-1 after two periods and then blew it open in the third. Great showing by the Pioneer JV, which is down a bit this year.

Should bea good game. Edina has not been scoring tons of goals lately and Holy Angels' forwards looked good against Cretin last night. I was impressed with the Stars everywhere except in goal against CDH in the silver bracket final. Those Vegas gold breezers, however, might be the ugliest thing I've...

I think Hockey MN1 has it pretty close with his rankings. Eden Prairie could very well be the best team in the state and finish with a handful of losses with the brutal schedule they are playing. In the next two weeks alone, they face Hill Murray, Burnsville and Duluth East, all on the road. They al...

I was surprised, having not seen Hill play thie year and reading the comments on this forum, how strong Hill was defensively against teh skilled forwards of WBL. If Hill plays that well defensively, they will be very tough to beat. It will be interesting how they do in teh Schwan's Cup against Breck...

Just as a clarification, although students can open enroll at any school for their 9th grade year, most schools only reserve a certain number of slots for open enrollment. This would, at least theoretically, make it difficult for an entire youth team to open enroll at the same school.

I agree with the seedings, but I also think a second look needs to be taken at the "strength of schedule" argument. A team has no control over who is in its section and very little control over the conference it plays in. This leaves it up to the non-conference. To its credit, Blaine playe...

While I agree that Tonka is an outstanding and clearly the best team in Minnesota right now, let's have them win a state title, or at least get to a state tournament before we start talking them in comparison to the greatest teams in history.
