Can't disagree with the above SEC breakdown. The middle of the pack is a toss up. Look for FLAKE to improve. CDH better than they appear as is WBL. They should start seperating themselves before the end of season. You will see some upsets coming from ER. They play very physical.

Girls teams should be able to compete in any tournament they want. They must be talented to compete as well as they did. Results don't lie. However, I am not that suprised. Girls of this age (11-13) generally speaking have already started to mature well before many boys at that age. Also I have noti...

People are funny. Exceptions don't change rules. You need to have some level of proficiency at anything to teach it. That is the rule. There are exceptions to the rule, but the exceptions don't change the rule. ALL things being equal, if a person is a good coach AND played at the same level or bette...

I am all in favor of the "best" applicant getting the job and this is not an indictment on anyone on the list. However, I am shocked that more women aren't applying for and receiving head high school coaching jobs. My daughter has had both. She has liked both. But girls hockey is not in it...

I agree that DIII hockey is taking more and more players with NAHL or USHL experience. Fortunately or unfortunately, the USHL is becoming increasingly difficult for a MN HS hockey player to go right into. Accordingly, the NAHL is creating more and more spots so that the kids can get seasoned to eith...

Has anybody else noticed that no matter what the event, camp, league, tournament, some body thinks the talent is "watered down". I certainly haven't seen that to be the case. What I see is less and less players seperating themselves because everyone is getting better. Has anyone noticed it...

I thought the tournament was very well run and the level of play was very good. In fact, if the rosters were short they were often times filled with SSM kids. I was suprised how many graduating seniors (91's and first half 92's) were in the tournament. I thought it would be more for incoming seniors...

I was there and it is good hockey. 90% of the kids deserve to be there. I agree. While the kids are definitely talented it is not universally the best talent. Also some kids because of the affilation with certain associations get asked when others don't. More non-parent coaches would certainly help....

Remember, I said "losing coaches" don't do anything. I am not painting ALL coaches. Not even close. I am sure many coaches out there do a lot of things in the off season. They are great and you are lucky to have them. I am not so lucky. I know my coach does NOTHING. Serioulsy, are we talki...

I have been reading this forum for years. I have noticed that any time a parent attacks the coaching staff they get attacked for being biased for their kid, their kid does not get enought playing time, parent can't assess talent, etc. I have had boys and girls play at the HS level. I see a lot of cr...

GFD your dead right. Forgot about the little "tweaks" based on the talent you have or don't have. See some of the scouting at work for some teams. Definitely not all the teams. Frustrating to continue to see no SEC presence. No blame, kids still need to play the game but if what a given te...

GFD, like you I watched a lot of SEC games this year. Interested in your thoughts about why SEC performed so poorly in regions. You referenced FLake, MV, Woodbury. FLake was a good team. WB was a good team. MV looks like it needs an attitude readjustment (highly inconsisitent) team. However, its sti...

Game was chippy. I really thought the Ponies would take this one. I agree they moved the puck better than WBL. This rivarly is becoming one of the better ones in the Metro. I wish one of these teams would make some noise in State some year. That would help the SEC and the rivalry. As much as it pain...

I stuck around for the first 2 periods of the Tartan v. MV game. Sorry I missed the third. MV goalie got some pretty solid defensive play. Occassional bone head high school defensive mistakes. I couldn't believe the lack of back checking by MV. Tartan broke out so easy it was amazing. After 2 period...

I think let them finish the game. The running time rule works in most instantces and if some coach wants to run up the score he/she will. When I clicked on this link I thought it might be related to the Hill Murray v. MV game. :D :D :D :D

Look around the SEC they are in the top four for sure...but I am not here to defend those guys. The beauty of sports is their records will speak for themsel...

I don't fault the private schools for trying to succeed. They are not "stealing" kids from the associations. Don't underestimate the quality coaching private schools (especially HM) gets. I believe good coaching at any big High School (400+ per class) and you have the makings of a quality ...

Stillwater wins this 5-4. I think it will come down to getting the kids up for the game and I think Housley will do a better job. I really like both coaches. I have seen them both coach for a number of years. I know, I know plenty dislike for both coaches but I think Stillwater pulls this out.

It is just wrong. It is even worse on the girls side. 9-0 used to be the point where all classy coaches stopped. It was an unstated rule and the coach would advise the kids to play keep away. I know people will say that is more disrespectful but it is NOT. It is called good sportsmanship. Parents an...

Sorry off topic slightly but WBL fans what happened to the that center from last year? I think a first liner. Maybe Swenson or Swanson. Tall kid six feet plus. I realize I clearly don't assess talent like many HS coaches but I thought he had what it took to go to the next level.

WBL will be looking past Roseville a bit but will rally and win. Too bad for Roseville some of those seniors deserved a better year. The Debace(sp?) kid is a good hockey player.

Be classy and act like you have done it before. Fans love when their teams win more than they will ever love a celebration by one player. I heard that NSP looked good early against MV then flattened out. Out shot MV but couldn't finish it. Maybe looking past MV a little bit for a toss up seeding in Sections. I m going with wishful thinking and give it to NSP.
