who are some coaches that you can think of with some years, still great love for the game, and usually always tend to have teams that bring home the hardware?

my choice for this level is butch orrey for duluth aviators, minus the thoughts of a couple of renegade individuals, nobody can deny butch's charisma and dedication to the game, and at the very least, success every year.

Where have you been the last three years? There is this team called Wayzata that has 3-peated and is about to 4-peat. Ted and co. are by far the best coaches in the state. -bo

In no special order:Coaches and their staff.
Bill Smith Edina , Steve Pearson Edina, Mallard Teal White Bear Lake, Ted Olson Wayzata, Brian Backes Burnsville, Tom Wright Minnetonka,Pat Mannenfeld North St Paul,John Lawson Anoka(retired). No list of Jr Gold coaches can not be without including Wes Barrette of St Paul who coached at this level for almost 40 years may he rest in peace, we still miss you!! I have but named a few, any coach who has spent time coaching at this level does so for the love of the game and the players; most of the coaches keep coming back every year, coaches who have coached at this level many have over 10 years with some over 20 years at this level, players are coming back to be involved now as coaches.
Thank you to all who have coached at the Jr Gold level.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... beard58 at: 11/15/05 1:10 pm

Hey beard....I really like your picks for coaches....Best of all WES (That award is the highest honor I believe)! The others you noticed are part of HUGE associations and even cut some players (accept N STP) ... How about some coaches that have worked hard to change the reputation of there peers..... like the wessy boys the last few years...sorry dont know his name....and others.... its not always about winning, (although it helps) but always giving a nice place to play competitive hockey...coach them up... and a place for the kids to play hockey.

In regards to pete's comment, I'd have to say Scott Orrey and JP Nagan did a good job of getting the Roseville JG program back from just one team to 3 and possibly 4 now. Not sure what the numbers were. I've been out of the game for a while. Both had a good raport with other coaches and thier kids. Even though they were losing a ton in the first few years they kept the kids in the program.
