long game... final score was 6-4 duluth won. with 2 minutes left in third period lakeville was down 5-3 pulled the goalie duluth got one so it was 3-6, then lakeville got one with about 30 seconds left 4-6. there was an end of the game open netter right at the buzzer but im not sure if it counted it so it was 7-4

EP
I would like to congradulate EP on a great profomance at their own tourny. Although they won the tourny i was extremely disapionted with a racist comment that made at the fiel buzzer of the EP-Lakeville game. The EP captain (#2) had told the one asain player on lakeville's team to go back to his own country. I found that very offensive. This shows everyone that they are a very stuck up and disrespectful team. Even though they played great and won, watch out cause they CAN'T win with class. I truely hope that the officails took care of that matter and the player be punished accordingly.

Re: EP
The player you are refering to has lost his Captaincy because of that incident. The entire team was unhappy with him & that is not the way this team operates. #2 is a great kid with a very bright future & by no means is he a racist or disrespectful of anyone. He made one bad mistake & he has paid for it greatly. I am not defending what #2 said, but I know it is not the worst thing you have ever heard on a hockey rink in your life. Pay closer attention to what your team is saying. They can talk crap with the best.

epvsbj
The big reason ep won was bc of the refs went to there favor and they scored 3 on the power play. Im not saying they were bad they were good but bj didnt have ne scoring opportunities while they were short handed the whole game even tho it was a close game for the majority.

-it was a pretty good game

Re: epvsbj
EP outshot Jefferson 39 to 18. Not one of those shots were taken by a referee. EP took 8 penalties & Jefferson took 9. If that's your idea of a close game that was decided by the refs, then take a closer look. It was a good game played by two good teams. The Jefferson goalie Hirsch is one of the best in the state and without him you know the margin would have been larger. Does anyone lose without making excuses anymore?

Re: EP A Tournament
Agreed Hirsch is probably one of the best goalies in the state.

Not that I am an EP fan but the penalties in the game looked even: Maybe Jefferson's powerplay is not that good?????

In regards to the racial slur from an EP player. Losing his captaincy is not that big of a punishment. Correct me if I'm wrong (help ref's) but if a racial slur is used, doesn't that call for a Match penalty? If its a match penalty, this player would be in front of the district director for a hearing and a severe punishment would be handed out.

I know young adults talk a lot of trash but this is totally uncalled in this game. Funny thing is, some of these players in this league will be roommates in college next year!

Re: EP A Tournament
Congrats EP and duluth. Finally Lakeville will just shut up!

lakeville
i dont get the criticism on lakeville. They played two really goods teams this wekend (EP and duluth). both games were very good and very close. The duluth score was 6-4 with a last second buzzer goal scored to make it 7-4. Ask any duluth coach. They can compete and have never been bown out yet this season. In fact they accually took it to jefferson in the moorehead tourny for the championship. Soon enough you will learn to respect lakeville as a good competitor and even if you don't, all the better to be under-estimated.

Re: lakeville
Lakeville beat my team. and you dont hear me making excuses. I could careless about them until i play them again so until then if you lose dont say nething

EP A Tournament
Troll21,

"Go back to your own country" is a mean & dumb thing to say. And I suppose that in today's world is technically a "racial slur". That being said, the player that said it, has no history of such acts and this is totally out of character for him. It was said in the heat of the moment and the player that said it immediately regreted it. He has been punished by his coaches & team. What more do you want? A public execution? Losing your captaincy is a big deal & ample punishment for a first time offender. If this were to happen again, I would agree that severe punishment (suspension) would be in order. I don't know if the refs heard it or not, but no penalties were called so I am assuming that they did not hear it. If they did hear it I would agree that a match penalty should/would have been called.

Who informed the coaches of this players' choice of words?

If it was the ref: he didn't do his job on reporting the incident.

If the player or coaches heard it, then the coaches and team reacted to the situation correctly.

There are no second chances if the referee hears the words!

Re: EP A Tournament
Its ok that that guy beat that other guy up, even though it put him into a coma, because it was in the heat of the moment, ohh and it was the first time hes ever been involved in such an instance.

The interesting thing about choices is once they are made you have to live with them.

Re: EP A Tournament
If you are going to make an analogy, don't compare apples to oranges. This was not a violent act & I don't recall anyone being in a coma in this case. The choice was made, it was wrong, it is being lived with. You are either perfect and have never made a bad choice or a complete moron.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... s>EPFan at: 2/1/05 11:41 am

Re: EP A Tournament
First, I don't make racial comments, I personally believe that people should all be treated as equals,(except goalies ha ha). I didn't say anything about me, so the fact that you are calling me a moron shows great class, much like that of your teammate #2. The last point I would like to make my sheltered friend, is it is indeed a violent act to some. It is very easy to sit back and say nobody was hurt, but the damage from words, especially those directed to any individual intending to cause harm are indeed more harmful than any slash or roughing penalty. I find it very hard to believe that you would be as ignorant to truly believe this has been dealt with accordingly.

Heres a story....Capt of a team was in the locker room, he was sitting up on the coat hook shelve. While sitting up there being the tough guy, was telling jokes and spit on 2 players, coach happened to walk in as the second spit happened. He got his Capt patch taken away. THAT IS FITTING.

What he said has no place in sports or life. I just want to tell you EP that your #2 is lucky that I wasn't on the ice or his dental plan might have taken a change of course.

ohh yeah I think the biggest problem is what you stated....

It is being lived with....

that is the problem it should be.....being DEALT WITH!!!!

You wouldn't think to look at him, but he was famous long ago

Re: EP A Tournament
EPFan, you didn't answer the question: Who informed the coaches?

I think MNDylanfan is correct in making that analogy. USA Hockey handbook has both of these incidents listed under match penalties. Yes, one is a violent injury and yes one is a violent choice of words.

In todays world, I am sure you and I (unless you own your own company) would be fired or severely reprimanded for this choice of words.

This player, #2 is lucky he is still playing hockey and will be able to participate in the state tournament, instead of watching!

Re: EP A Tournament
The players informed the coach, as they should have. Again, I do not know if the refs heard it or not. I agree with you that he is lucky it did not go further with the referees, district, etc. I will agree to disagree with you about "tough guy" MNDylan & his extreme views about rearanging dental work. This problem was DEALT with quickly & I feel correctly. MNDylan disagrees and feels there should be an eye for an eye. I can't agree with him.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... s>EPFan at: 2/1/05 12:40 pm

Re: EP A Tournament
I never said I was tough or a tough guy, I am just saying I will stand up for my temamates to the end and if drastic times call for drastic meesures, oh well, get the foil
You wouldn't think to look at him, but he was famous long ago

Re: EP A Tournament
I agree that teamates need to stand up for each other. I am glad that this incident did not blow up into something bigger on the ice. The Lakeville team is to be commended for staying calm & letting EP deal with their own player. Let's keep the foil for the pros.

You wouldn't think to look at them because they are not playing this year.
