CALLING ALL COACHES - On-line petition for Helmet Rule

I know there is already a thread regarding Coaches/Helmets, but I wanted to be sure everyone was aware that there is something new to report, and to make that obvious we needed a new "headline". Anyway, we have created an on-line petition that we intend to present to the MN Hockey Board at their spring meeting. The goal is to have some sort of voice in the rule and/or its implementation. If you are in agreement with our stance, please take the time to sign the petition; if you disagree, we respect your opinion as well. Be sure to pass the word along to anyone and everyone who may be interested…we want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard. The petition has only been “live” for an hour or so, and it has already spread like crazy all over the state. Wow read some of the names on that list!!!! Reed Larsen, Tom Serratore, Joe Bianchi, Christian Koelling, Chris McAlpine, Phil Verchota, Tom Terwilliger, Eric Strobel, Tom Younghans, etc.

We hit 300 at 8:30am today, so being at 400 at 10am means they’re signing up at a pace of just over one per minute…even if it slows down a little, we should get to 500 signatures in the first 24 hours (1pm). Not a bad effort...keep passing the word.

441 at 10:20 AM Please Forward this info on to ALL the coaches/Associations that you know. Then, they can choose to sign if they want. But, if they are not aware, then they have no choice or voice for that matter.

Whats the big deal about this issue? Why are so many against having the coaches wear helmets?

If you don't see it as a big deal then don't worry about the petition, if you want to wear a helmet then you have every right to wear one just as I have the right to not wear one.

655 with a few double posts and growning by the minute. A coach is signing approx every two and a half minutes. Keep passing the word. I sent an email to several coaches in my association and have had many already sign.

1023 signatures and counting!!! We broke the quadruple-digit barrier!!! Nice work by all...keep spreading the word. Our work here is not done yet. The more voices we have speaking up, the better. As it relates to a few posts above, PLEASE be sure to only sign the petition once, and also please refrain from posting garbage on the petition. Any attempts at humor and/or double posts will only detract from the message we want to land at the April meeting. I am all for humor, but let's post it on the message board, not the petition.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> So...congrats to all the HS teams who have qualified for the MSHSL state tourney - the field is now set and it should be a fun week ahead; also, good luck to all the teams battling through regions this weekend - it's a grueling weekend and may the best team win; and finally, best wishes to all those involved in playing/coaching/reffing/etc hockey in Minnesota...our game is great...let's continue to make sure we have a voice in it!!!
