Moorhead

Anyone know how the Moorhead youth program is set up? According to their website they have nine squirt teams (six house, three travel) but only three peewee and bantam teams (all travel). What happens to their kids that don't make travel in peewees/bantams? Do they have house at the PW/Btm levels or are those kids left hung out to dry? <p></p><i></i>

Well currently at our Bantam and Peewee levels there are about a perfect number of players for 3 teams at each level. Last year we had 6 Mite teams, and this year we have 9. More and more kids are starting to play hockey, so in the future having extra kids could be a problem, but this year its not at all. <p></p><i></i>

What are the numbers on the mite teams?<br><br>If there are 6 teams of 6 players each, it makes a huge difference. <br><br>Our program used to run 3 teams of 12-14 kids each. Not what I personally agree with, but I think Moorhead has been really good about how they run things. They were NOTHING, and now everyone wants to beat them.<br><br> <p></p><i></i>

I played against Moorhead when I was in youth hockey and I don't know when they were weak, I've always seen them as a powerhouse. 15 years plus... <p></p><i></i>

The least numbers I have seen on a mite team during a game was 10, and they probably had some players missing. My brothers mite team has around 13 I believe. <p></p><i></i>

That is an amazing jump in numbers - probably about 50 peewees and around 130 squirts? Musta been a big snowstorm in Moorhead back in 1995 if you know what I mean...<br><br>Imagine what a powerhouse Moorhead will become if they continue to be able to draw from those #s. They already do a great job with those lower numbers. <p></p><i></i>
