Grand Rapids in Baseball State Final
Just wanted to let all the puckheads know that the Fabulous Thunderbirds have made it to the 7AAA finals by beating Hopkins 6-0 and BSM Red Knights 5-3 with a ninth grader Gabe Wood pitching a 3 hit shutout against Hopkins. Than the kid came back in with the next game when its 5-2, bases loaded, no outs in the sixth inning of the BSM game and got out of the jam. Gave one up in the seventh but notched a win and a save in 1 day. Not a bad day for a ninth grader. GR will face Lakeville tomorrow at 5:30 PM at Midway. Let's here it for the outstate kids! Austin Tavis (GR hockey forward) played great today as did Jake Magner and Brett Hedlund (GR hockey defensemen), heck the entire team deserves a solid round of applause.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... =jls81>JLS 81 at: 6/17/05 6:19 am

Way to go Grand Rapids.

But...ah...Thunderbirds? When did that happen? What..did somebody see the movie Grease too many times.

I didnt think the political correctness disease spread that far up Highway 169.

Whatever they call themselves, good luck. Its good to see the kids developing their athleticism on the basebal field in June instead of some foggy ice rink.

From the Rink to the Diamond
6 kids transitioned from the rink to the diamond. Like Packerboy said it is good to see kids out playing something other than 12 month hockey.

Austun Tavis
Brett Hedlund
Sam Shaw
Micah Hovet
Stephen Davis
Mike McInerney

The name is still Thunderhawks (sad to say) although I hate using it as it should still be Indians.
