Re: Section 5AA 2006
They ought to have an interesting seeding meeting. I am listing these in the Krach order:

1 - CDH played no games against 5AA opponents
2 - Burnsville 6-2-0 against section opponents; 1 game remaining with Eastview; lost both games to Eagan.
3 - AHA played one section opponent and tied Eastview
4 - Eagan 6-0-1 against section opponents; beat Burnsville twice; tied Eastview.
5 - Eastview 4-2-2 against section opponents; one game remaining against Burnsville; lost to Burnsville and Eagan; tied AHA & Eagan.
6 - Apple Valley 5-5-0 against section opponents. Beat teams below, lost to teams above.
7 - Novas 0-2-0 against section. Lost to Rosemount.
8 - Rosemount 1-6-0 against section. Beat Novas and Lost to Kennedy.
9 - Kennedy 1-6-0 against section. Beat Rosemount.

CDH & AHA need people to believe Krach to justify high seeding. I don't know how Eagan is behind Burnsville when they beat Burnsville twice.

Looks to me like Kennedy could be 7 and Novas 9.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... >sghfan at: 1/29/06 5:04 pm

Re: Section 5AA 2006
Arguably the most interesting setup I've seen seeding wise due to season results.

Typically I hear the following criteria are used:

#1 - head-to-head competition results

#2 – results vs. common opponents

#3 - record w/SOS consideration

Some may consider “upsets” as well and try to determine how much weight to give such contests.

My team scrimmaged or played CDH, BV, AHA, EA & BK but I'd still hate to rank this section for many of the reasons cited above.

Also - one "conspiracy theory" that will inevitably arise is the supposed "allegiance" of the same-conference teams to one another. Some will argue that they will stick together to move their teams higher, etc. but having been on both sides of this I don’t believe that this will necessarily be the case.

5AA
Should be an awesome final 4 along with the #4 vs. #5 game. CDH has to get the top seed; was at state last year, numerous quality wins this year, especially with a fantastic streak around the holidays. I'd give AHA respect for their previous years state tournament, tough schedule and improvement from earlier this year. Since they've played each other twice already, I hope they seed Burnsville & Eagan so that if they meet, its in the final.

5AA
I dont see cretin with that many quality wins, only beaten 5 teams with record over 500. I give the edge in this section to Holy Angels, with burnsville, cretin and eagan close contenders.

Re: 5AA
I have a horse in the race so many will consider me biased. Eagan has beat Burnsville twice in conference play and is the only team to date to have given #1 Eden Prairie a scare, only to have a lead against E.P. all year, only team to score more than one goal against E.P., scoring three against them in a 3-4 loss three games ago.

Who went to state last year or who did what last year should have nothing to do with seeding teams. I am a believer in seeding teams based on this years seasons reasults. The last one or two games may play a key role in the final order.
Eagan has a game against Lakeville North
CDH has games against Stillwater and White Bear Lake
Burnsville has games against Eastview and B. Jefferson
AHA has games against Prior Lake and New Prague

This is a section that I believe the computer doesn't work well with as evidenced by the Burnsville Eagan Krach ranking order vs. their head to head results.

#1 Eagan
#2 Cretin Derham Hall
#3 Burnsville
#4 AHA
#5 Apple Valley
#6 Eastview
#7 Bloomington Kennedy
#8 Play in game Rosemount vs. Mpls Nova's
Nova's take the 8 spot

Should have great section games.

Re: 5AA
Here's my guess how it will turn out.

#1 Cretin Derham Hall-probably the best
#2 Eagan-because that beat Burnsville twice
#3 AHA-newcomer to SEC 5
#4 Burnsville-could win it all in SEC 5
#5 Eastview-beat AV twice
#6 Apple Valley-best of the rest
#7 Bloomington Kennedy
#8 Play in game Rosemount vs. Mpls Nova's
Nova's take the 8 spot

seeding
cats, I agree that being in last years state tournament should have nothing to do with it, and many of those deciding the seeds realize that. However, I don't think everyone can ignore the "reputation" factor when deciding such matters. Just looking at the name "Holy Angels" makes one think they're pretty darn good, even if you already know the pertinant factors of every team involved. It also might indicate how well coached a team is, and also how well they play at the end of the year. I don't know, but I have a feeling that seeding involves "gut feelings" as well as the records and stats.

Every year something different happens on a team wether its a different coaching strategy, new coach all together, new players, or certain players leaving, the year before should have nothing to do with it. CDH last year made a state tournament apperance againt wayzata and got slammed 6-0. They inched out of the sections beating burnsville 2-1, for the 2nd year in a row. section 5 has some hefty competition. AHA has always been good, yet havent seen them play much this year. CDH has led the section, but how are they doing this year against higher ranked teams? Burnsville and Eagan are neck and neck, eagan's beat burnsville twice, but not by much. First game was 2-0 one goal being on an empty net and the first goal not coming in untill late in the 2nd period. The other nights game when Eagan won 1-0 the goal didnt come in untill the 3rd period.
thats a long time to not have a goal. All these teams can score, that's a given. I think it will come down to which goalie is hot. And all teams have great goaltending. This is deffinetly a section to watch.

burnsville vs. say an aha
I am not from Burnsville, but have seen both teams play several time - Burnsville is 4 goals better than aha - should be, and I am not from Eagan either or the section for that matter

Eagan
CDH
Burnsville
Eastview or AHA, hard to say
then AV and the rest after that

Re: burnsville vs. say an aha
I believe that this will be the most interesting section to watch the seeding of with all the head-to-head & common opponents (or lack thereof) results. Should be very interesting to see how this one plays out. Another section with a great semi-on lineup more than likely. I add 5AA to the list with 3AA & 6AA in this classification...
