Game of the Day is an easy one: Edina and Wayzata.

CCX Media is picking up the game as well for those that want to stream.

Wayzata with the big home win in OT, 4-3. Pretty even game and Wayzata has a good shot at the #1 seed in the section vs Edina.

Couple of surprising scores last night - with Wayzata beating Edina and Holy Family putting it on Gentry.

Edina doesn't look like a top 5 team IMO. Their best win is a 3-2 victory over CDH. Yes, 4 of their 5 losses have come to STA and Moorhead, and there's no shame in that. But 3 of those 4 losses have been by 3 goals or more. They've now lost to Wayzata (again, probably no shame in that per se) but also had to eek out victories over Elk River and LV South. Still a very good team, but seem a level lower than what I expected this year so far.

Gentry is out of sorts. I'm not exactly sure how 4AA seeding will shake out, but Gentry at best will be the 4th seed - and they may end up bounced early by a likely 5th seed Roseville team that is playing above average of late. Gentry beat Roseville to start the year, but they seem to be trending in opposite directions now. Transitive properties is a dangerous game, but Roseville beat a decent Holy Family team 7-4, and Gentry has lost to them twice by a combined 8-1 score. Gentry was also outshot in those games by a combined 71-47.

Edina lacks that one player that can just take over a game, like a Cowan or a Walker of years past. They are also young, and I think they need another year or two to marinate before making a state title run. They've got issues on the back end with goaltending, and don't have the depth on the blue line and struggle to lock down good teams from scoring.

I knew I should have sold my Edina stock last week.
