Section 6A

Post by hockeydad »

wondering who will be the contenders in this Section

Shakopee is the defending champ. They lucked out by just missing the cut to move up to Class AA. they lose Ole the Goalie and a few other players. Can they be replaced? Can they repeat?

Orono has been the team to beat the last few years. they've had a change in coaching. Did they lose anyone to transfer again this year?

New Prague lost a ton of players...11 seniors, including Ambroz. they've got to find some goal scorers and someone to stop goals, after graduating two senior goalies

Mound played great at times last year, and horrible at other times. I hear they've got a new coach. will he take the team to the next level?

STMA? Can they get past the first round of the playoffs?

Providence? New program. do they have anything? there's a lot of money at that school.

Faribault...moved from 1AA. There are a lot of good hockey players in that town, and their youth program has blossomed lately, but do any of the good players play for FHS, or are they all at Shattuck?

Litchfield DC....They've shown flashes of brilliance, but need to be more consistent.

Delano....haven't seen them for a few years. Any comments?

Le Sueur....They have struggled the last coupel of years.

Hutchinson...once a very strong program, but the conference doormat the last couple of years. What happened?

Holy Family.... still a young program.

Bets go to Orono again. Shakopee won't repeat. I'll be impressed if they get passed section semis.

Delano

Delano dropped Watertown from their cooperative to remain in 6A. They should actually have a decent squad this year and should be among the favorites in 6A.

Eddie Shore is correct. Delano is paired only with Rockford and Watertown Mayer kids now play for Mound-Westonka.

I originally had Orono in the top twenty in class A. But they've taken some major hits thru transfers and may not even be the top team in this section anymore. Delano
has a good group coming back. Shakopee has a very good top 5, but it drops off from there.Mound has a good number of returnees, plus an experienced goalie.
Newcomer Faribault will have the top line in the section
and a good 2nd line and could surprise. They aren't deep defensively, but the big ? is goalie. If they get some good play there, they may win it.

Mound
Orono
Delano
Faribault
Shakopee
New Prague

These seem like the top contenders for 6a.
