Duluth East lost to Chaska 3-1 last night but they beat a disorganized, starless Wayzata this morning 8-0.

Burnsville Games Today

Post by 100Flex »

In the first game, Burnsville beat Chaska 3-2 on a goal with less than a minute remaining. Burnsville looked strong in the game. Chaska had several opportunities in the last ten minutes but they couldn't capitalize on their powerplay.

In the second game, Eden Prairie beat St. Louis Park 4-3. EP was up 4-1 but SLP clawed back on two impressive goals. Both benches were filled and clearly both teams were looking at their potential skaters.

Burnsville and EP are playing for the championship. Unfortunately, I had to leave.

I believe it was a tie. HA was missing their top line according to some CEC fans.

wild's weekend update

Post by 7AAFAN »

Wild...give us the inside "scoop" on the weekend. Any new flavors to look forward to this year at the ice cream cart? How is the research coming on that yellow flavor we talked about? How did the freezer hold up this weekend under the sweltering conditions? Oh yeah, and if you want to throw in a comment about Cloquet's play....feel free....By the way, did you bring back any Canadian recruits from your fishing trip, or is Alaska kinda like considered Canadian?

100flex. i understand burnsville prevailed over ep in the final sunday game...6-2? did ep run out gas or was burnsville that good, beating an ep team which handily took care of breck the previous day?

NPGandy:

Burnsville is a very good team! Very impressed. Had the opportunity to watch them play Chaska prior to playing EP. Best game I saw in the tournament. Went right down to the wire. Not gonna be an easy game for any team in the Lake this year.

Regarding EP being gassed, I think they had to be. They only had 40 or so minutes of rest between their semi-final game and the championship game. Burnsville had a couple of hours. Reverse it and who knows what would happen. EP plain and simple got beat on Sunday. Says the Conference games are going to be tossups among a number of teams. EP got hurt by penalites too, by my observation good calls. Said it before, penalties will kill you playing against the Lake Conferance, teams are just too talented.

But it was a great tourney to watch. Couldn't kill off the entire weekend or I would have liked to watch more of the games. Was 90 degrees and I love doing yardwork in the heat and humidity!

funny

Having lived in both MN and AK, I would say MN gets far more references to Canada, with the accent especially. Alaskans don't have an accent, except that it seems 50% of us are from Minnesota. In some ways it's like I never moved.

sorry guys, I really didn't see much hockey on Sunday. I watched GR against Eagan (good game) and CEC against Hibbing (Hibbing played well), It gets tough giving opinions about summer hockey because so many kids play that may never even make the high school team. Where was Stejskal? GR's defense was weak, but their offense gave them enough to beat a decent Eagan team. CEC slept walked thru 2 1/2 periods and finally scored 3 goals to beat Hibbing by 1. Hibbing moved the puck well while CEC struggled. Many many young kids played for CEC.

Burnsville / Chaska

Post by Grand Forks »

Knowing that this is summer hockey, a comment was made that this was the best game of the tournament. Were the Burnsville and Chaska teams strong offensively or defensively? Were they physical?

How much stock goes into the summer games when compared to how the teams end up doing during the regular season?

brokenstick. nice post...good observations. i did make the breck v ep game on saturday and was impressed by ep's overall play. breck appeared flat, but they did not have their two horses on the ice...jordan fulton and drake herd. they are out east playing in the chowder cup. would they have made a difference? possibly.

it looked like coach smith had the bulk of his varsity team on the ice working hard, at least the 1st and 2nd lines. i would not tamper with that mix at all! will the 3rd line be composed of juniors? they looked strong and they scored the first goal setting the stage in opening up the floodgates making it 7-0.

either burnsville and apple valley may take the conference...outplaying ep and jefferson. can you spell parity?

NPGandyDancer,

How could Fulton and Herd have been playing in the Chowder Cup on Saturday when they both played in Breck's noon game against Lakeville North? And why wouldn't they play aginst EP when the Chowder Cup doesn't start until later this week?

Cloquet Scrimmages

Post by BlueHawks00 »

Eagan did not lose to Grand Rapids in the Cloquet Scrimmages. They tied them 4-4, beat Cloquet 4-3, and beat Hibbing 6-0.
