4. Jefferson
5. Eagan
6. Park of CG
7. AV

Eastview - Loks like early season contender to be in 3AA finals with win over Sats81 LN Panthers (BTW: #freeSats, he's good for controversy)

Burnsville - Likely end up in semifinals in this really weak section with a record around 10-15 on the year. Consistent goaltending will be their issue

Jefferson - same as above. Overall record will be closer to .500 due to Metro West conference play

I think people are underselling Burnsville. They're already 8-6-1 against a fairly tough schedule. They've only lost once in conference play (to Lakeville South), and tied Lakeville North; the rest of their losses are to pretty good teams, though some were not close.

Prior Lake is the only other SSC team that's really given them a good game. They beat Eastview 5-2 recently. Their remaining schedule is pretty favorable; even if they lose the Lakeville rematches and two others to teams they've already beaten/should beat, they'd still wind up 14-10-1.

That's a very similar (even slightly better) record than what they had last year when they won the section. I know they don't have overwhelming talent, but they seem to know what they're doing, and if STA doesn't make some adjustments...let's just say I wouldn't be shocked by a repeat.

This is not a slight on Bville, because I think they will give STA everything they can handle in sections, but what is their signature win? They haven't beaten a top 20 team. And now rolling up wins against teams that aren't very good in their conference. Again, I like them, just saying I'd pump the brakes on them. This isn't a very good section this year.

Dont think anyone is going too hard with them, just saying if they happen to knock of STA again, it wouldn't be the BIGGEST upset ever.

I believe they have the best chance to dethrone the Cadets.

I watched STA in the Schwans Cup over the Holidays and thought they had a lot of depth but didn't have any real superstars like years past. I didn't see much distinction between their top 3 lines and all the lines competed well against both Wayzata as well as Edina in the Championship. However, towards the later part of the Edina game, STA, down 2-1, shortened their bench and Edina scored a shorty against a very tired line which had been on the ice for several minutes. Not real sure what the thinking was on the part of the coaches but then again I haven't seen enough games to make that determination. Otherwise I think its STA's section based on who their competition is.

Of course the day I talk up Burnsville, they need overtime to beat lowly Shakopee...though they did put up 65 shots in the process. Anyway, I'm not saying they're world-beaters; it's true they have yet to beat a team currently in the top 20. But a borderline top 20 team in a very thin section isn't a bad upset pick (especially when they pulled this very upset a year ago), and my point was that they've done enough for us to consider them a step ahead of everyone else in the race for the 2-seed.

3-5 games remaining
1. STA
2. Burnsville
3. Jefferson
4. Eagan
5. Eastview
6. Park of CG
7. Apple Valley
Rosemount
East Ridge
Hastings

STA hold on #1 remains, yet Burnsville has closed the margin. These two won't be bumped down.
Jefferson and Eagan have moved up. A Jaguar bounce & they may make a semi final game interesting.

I don't think Eagan should be 4.

Both games against Eastview have been dominated by the lightning.
