Get ready Spartans, you're about to receive a heapin' helpin' of small town hockey! :D

Seriously, SPA will be tough, but I see Hawks winning it 5-2.

Anything could happen on any given day so yes they do have a chance. The coach is going to have to channel Herb and give them The Speech that was first delivered in 1980 in order for them to though. I have watched both of them play a few times and the main difference is going to be depth. SPA has a good first line that can/will match up with Hermantown's first line. Hermantown's depth is beyond what SPA can match but with the TV time outs and etc their 1st line will last longer. Both teams have good D although I have seen Hermantown's get caught flat footed a few times and burned around the edge so with SPA's speed that might be an issue. Biggest difference though is in goal tending. SPA's tender is better than Hermantown's tender which could be the deal maker for them. If SPA does not get caught in the initial shock and aw moments of the game and react like a deer in the head lights does they can and will make it a game. Will they win? Probably not, but it will make for a better game than last night's whooping.

I made me chuckle that an announcer at yesterday's game said that this is one of or the deepest/best defensive team Hermantown has ever had.
I'd say they are middle of the pack vs previous HT teams. Hermantown's defensive has to play better the rest of the way or they will be 2nd again.

SPA really impressed me Wednesday. Their speed on their top 2 lines is great, but I feel the D are a little over aggressive and it could cost them today. That said Ill still take SPA in a close one

Hermantown looks good, a lot better than on Wednesday IMO. Could compete well in AA no doubt. SPA has to get more pucks to the net and less fancy

I agree, but Hermantown is only quasi-public.

Quasi-public? Come on really! That's offensive that you would even say that. Personally can't wait till Herm goes AA and knocks Cloquet out every year. Marshall can drop back to A and beat Hibbing every year and all will be right with the world.

5-1 Hawks in 2 period for Hawks.

After Hawks win tomorrow they will be playing AA.

Bruce is ready.

If you don't like HTown playing A cheer loud for them on Saturday. Could be their last A game.

Careful, Peky, if you trash-talk too much it makes your slow-playing of your team's talent that much more ridiculous.

No, they are in A next year for sure. 2017-18 is the first year they could go AA.

Breck should move up too. If those two move up, it would be a nice competitive A tournament.

Hermantown is a complete joke! SPA is a legitimate A team and the Hawks are taking a crap on em. Any A title isn't even worth celebrating, especially after the display by A enrollment schools GR and Bemidji last night.

Agreed. Hermantown is about to put yet another top ten A team into running time, while two teams they beat by a combined score of 10-3 are about to play in the AA semis tonight.

Plante let these kids down by not giving them a chance to compete in AA. Embarrassing.

Common sense, truth and logic hasn't helped me thus far so now I just want the Hawks to piss pound these last 2 private schools. No other A team has been able to do it and when HT goes to AA, it's gonna be private winning A every year.

SPA legit class A team? Their private school. No legit class A team is private. Hermantown is about half the size of GR and Bemidgi.

I would love to see Hermantown compete with Cloquet every year for a state birth....along with East, GR, Elk River, DM, Andover..... :)

Not when you add in the 600 Proctor students that should be added to the Hermantown enrollment. SPA is just doing what Hermantown does: Get talent from a AA area, yet hide behind their enrollment numbers.
