can anyone explain why 5AA splits their QF games between two arenas(1 Olympic 1 reg) then moves both semis to the Olympic size rink, then moves the finals to Aldrich,(reg size) an arena not even in 5AA?

Not a lot of options within the 5AA boundary for a section final. All arenas in that area of the metro are somebody's home rink and I don't think any hold more than 2,000 people.
Centennial/Blaine section final was standing room only last year at Aldrich, which seats closer to 4,000. So even if you didn't mind it being at someone's home rink, none are even close to big enough.
I agree about quarterfinals. Just let high seed host.
Ridder would probably be the best choice for semis and final, but I've heard th U charges an arm and a leg for facilities usage. Plus you'd have to hope Gophers men and women were out of town if you wanted to do semis on Saturday.
