On August 4, long time Twin Cities sportscaster Gene Harrington passed away at the age of 86. In 1985, I remember him serving as color commentator for a number of high school games that aired on KRSI-AM 950 with his son Greg calling the play-by-play. To me, they were the first and only father and son broadcast team in this market. Feel free to post your memories of Gene as well as other hockey events he has broadcast.
As or Greg Harrington, it's a shame that he hasn't broadcast hockey in this area since he was let go by the station that carried University of Nebraska-Omaha games. I also remember him as the radio voice of the Moose and to me he's one of the best hockey play-by-play men in this market and someday he should be back on local radio.
