Section 8AA 2015-16

Post by TheHockeyDJ »

I'm thinking it will be at Bemidji vs STMA section final next year. What's going on with Roseau? They seem like they'll be down a while. Will the Spuds contend? Does Aus have anything besides a bunch of duster/benders in Barnyard?

Is anyone on here from that neck of the woods?

Does Warroad get a lot of pressure to move up and if so what is there a reason they don't want to? Last 21 seasons 12 of them have had 5 or less losses.

Great program, would love to see them playing with the big boys.

When I lived in that area, there wasnt a whole lot of pressure for warroad to move up. For being "Hockeytown" they didnt win their first State Title(94) until the tournament was split into A and AA.

Its still a town of like 1300 people and trying to field a AA is problematic, they'll have their years when a player like Oshie or Bethune move in and be among the best in state, and then they'll have their leaner years. It just doesnt add up to sustainable success against the bigger schools.

That's about right. STMA is very good. I saw them twice in 7AA last year. Lots of taken in high school now, and in their youth programs.

I thought Roseau had a strong bantam team. Didn't they take Rapids to OT in regions?

I'm guessing the Rams won't be top 10 anytime soon, but they should be competitive, although it appears Moorhead has some excellent groups coming up.

Moorhead has some very good teams coming up. I would guess Bemidji wins the section again next year, granted I have no idea what STMA brings to the table. After next year, I would guess Moorhead will be king for a few years.
