Prior Lake vs. Burnsville

Post by green4 »

I don't know much about these two teams, I never got to watch Burnsville this year and I only saw Prior Lake once, but it should be another good one.

Prior Lake won both games between the two with scores of 3-1 and 2-1. However, it will be interesting to see how that could change with PL's starting goaltender now ineligible.

It seems like Burnsville has had a hard time scoring goals this year but they have shown that when they do score they can beat anyone.
They most likely will have the best player on the ice in Ahcan and with Lubbesmeyer in goal they will surely put up a fight.

The hub has the game at BIG starting at 3:30 on Saturday

How many breaks for Edina this year. One team who really doesn't need any breaks, but gets breaks often. A bye the first round and now one of their biggest competitors lose their first goalie. Threeedina!!! Like LPH says.

Not really any breaks there, Edina earned the bye, it's not like the other teams could not have gotten it themselves. And Prior Lake losing their goalie is not a break either, he was ineligible, he should have never been on the team.

I think everyone knows Im an Edina fan on here, I tell people I'm probably biased but, I would not call a team that cheated and got caught a "break" for another team. That to me just seems like Karma catching up with a team who did not play by the rules.

Green has never made any secret of where he's from - in fact he's stated it numerous times. You really haven't uncovered anything earth shattering. I agree with green that getting the top seed and a bye with a record of 22-1-2 is hardly a "break," any more than Shakopee getting a "bad break" with the 7th seed - uh, they're just bad.

I can't believe that the Lakers didn't get the last seed forcing them to play Edina. Not much of a punishment for playing with an illegal goaltender all year. Either way I hope it is a good game and Burnsville comes out on top. It has been a good year for the Blaze and would like to see Luby get the Brimsek. Winning a couple more games would help. Maybe he can steal a couple here to run out the season.

There are only 7 seeds in 2AA so if prior lake would have gotten the last seed they would have most likely have played Burnsville in the quarter finals

In this Section 2 matchup, I believe the Braves will win by a couple goals, with the experience and leadership of arguably the 1st or 2nd best goalie AND Dman in the state, combined with capable offense . And PL odds have decreased a bit with Scites out of the picture.

Good point. It really won't matter Bville will have to win a couple games to move on either way.

The "break" is that Edina doesn't need to play competition like BSM, Wayzata, Mtnka, AND Eden Prairie ever year to make it to state. Can you say re-district!

No double AA team has an easier walk to State than our boys in 1AA.
Dodge County
Rochester Century
Lake South or Farm??

just give us the #1 Seed in the State Brackets now!

Weak section

Post by Rich Clarke »

What a good idea it would be to add Exina to section six and maybe Lakeville North, St. Thomas, and Hill Murray. Make it as hard as possible for Edina to go. The fact that it would screw most of those other teams is beside the point since eliminating Exina should be the goal.

Of course, section two is typically stronger than any section in the state of you judge by either the AP or Karl's rankings. Just not good enough to oust Edina. And the fact that Exina rolled through section six competition again this year? Meaningless detail. Let's put all the good teams in one section so your weaklings have no one to decent to play. And then move the next team that beats you out.

Glad to see the braves sent pankratz and the overrated lakers home empty handed. Watch the exodus of PL players continue.

Not sure if Prior Lake or Cretin is the biggest underachieving team in the last 4 or 5 years. Two big disappointments.

Sorry I missed this one, figured the Braves would win in regulation by two, Instead of in OT. Hope they can at least keep it close at Mariucci

Totally agree, how can PL have success at the youth levels but do nothing at the High School level? They have quality players but their high scoring wide open hockey peewee and bantam teams have become a crappy dump and chase style High school team. The dads I know are pretty frustrated. They all point to coaching issues or lack of coaching. I'm hearing underclassmen will be running for the doors.

Full disclosure - I am a supporter of the current coaching staff. The PL program is light years ahead of where it was when this coaching staff arrived, thus the much higher expectations. Before they arrived, simply being competitive in a first round section game would have been celebrated, to be a #2 seed and lose a section semifinal game in OT not even considered possible.

For those frustrated dads that are no doubt leading the rumor of "underclassmen running for the doors", remember the grass isn't always greener.
