Could this be true?

Post by Nevertoomuchhockey »

After tryouts and team selected by outside judges, coach gets to take 2 "coaches pick" players.
Result is an uneven number balance at A and B levels, and 2 players who clearly were not chosen in the first place to play A for a reason. Nepotism and politics.
Lots of grumbling going on amongst the parents on both teams. I've always said no way that happens, but the abilities of the 2 are so markedly off point I'm starting to reconsider.
Does this kind of policy actual exist in some associations, or are the hockey parents just typical conspiracy proponents upset about playing time?
Please share.

You're describing what happened to a District 2 U10 program this year.

Mistake.

It's no fun for a player to be the weakest on a team.

It's almost worse for the parents as they'll hear things said in the stands over the course of the season.

Parent is on the bench. That's part of the problem!

That parent isn't just on the bench.

You can say 'parent is on the board' without getting the thread shut down.

If you say 'parent is in the hot tub', that may draw some attention, though.

Yes but in high school we can choose her coach. 5th grade already. I'm waiting on those recruitment calls I read so much about! [-o<

Ummm joking?!
Teasing reference to all the private and public school recruitment threads I've read in this forum. I figure a good 5th grader will have a dozen schools call. Then we can choose!
Really? No not really.
