YHH: State Player of the Year PeeWee Finalists Announced
Our Wiz Wyatt Player of the Year Finalists are now out. This award is different than Freddie's award from the last couple weeks. I narrow our list down to just 5...the criteria is based on hockey ability, academics, outside sports and leadership.
We will announce our winner later this week, with a list of honorable mentions.

Have seen 4 of the 5 and this is probably a pretty good list. Crazy 3 of the 5 not even in Fred's top 50? Hmmm.

In Freddie's defense on the Hermantown kid, he didn't see them this year.
He was scheduled to go to Cloquet and check off like 6 peewee teams in one weekend. His wife's car broke down.
I saw a lot fewer teams than he did, this year. That's for sure.
Also remember, my list does not necessarily reflect the best 5 Hockey Players, it reflects 5 great hockey players that also meet other criteria.
Privately I could name 5 more great hockey players that make this list, but don't meet the leader, grades, other sports criteria. As I could name 5 others who were very, very close (kids from EV, Brainerd, Duluth East, Bemidji, and STMA).
Thanks for your comments about my list being "pretty good".
Would love to hear your list (no names please).

Have seen no where near the games or have near the depth of knowledge w/repect to the hockey play alone let alone other sports, grades, activities, etc.. and I do understand there are different criteria to be selected as part of this particular list.
Main point here for me is these 5 are clear top 50 players as well and would be on 99.99% of the lists of anyone who chose to pick a top 50.

Like Snyper, I have a major issue with the story. In fact, I cringed before getting past the headline: “YHH announces it’s finalists for the Wiz Wyatt PeeWee Player of the Year Award.”
It's is the contraction (abbreviated form) of "it is" and "it has." It's has no other meanings--only "it is" and "it has."
Its is the form to use in all other instances when you want a form of i-t-s but you are not sure which one. Its is a possessive form; that is, it shows ownership. Example: The radio station has lost its license.
YHH continues to grow in popularity and stature. With luck, more and more paying sponsors will sign up to support this project. Hopefully, my suggestion will be taken in the spirit intended—to lend credibility to the site. (Even though I know it is blasphemy to discuss grammar on a hockey forum, especially when we all see e-mails from team managers that “the jersey’s will be ready for the boy’s tonight” and “we play at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow if we loose the game today”.)
As far as the players named in the actual piece, congratulations to them—a well-deserved honor and recognition.

GJ,
Thanks for the lesson. I have a few writing foibles. Just ask my editor the MN Daily when I wrote there 20 years ago. She nearly killed me a few times on affect and effect.
I now have a picture on my desk reminding the difference:
The arrow affected the injured animal...the effect was eye popping.
Jet,
We have a goalie in the Bantam list of 10 that will narrow to 5. Which would mean that we had 2 goalies in the 5 lists we release. Some would argue that is too two many

Yeah Jet who needs goalies when u can have a top 10 team that is barely above .500. Time for u to move I'll toss in 50 bux towards expenses!YouthHockeyHub wrote:GJ,
