AA Semi Final- #1 Hill-Murray vs. #4 Wayzata

Post by UntouchableFlow »

With both teams winning today, they'll meet in the semifinals tomorrow night in the second game of the evening session. Who do you think will win?

Wayzata looked very nervous and shaky in the first two and half periods, but sustained great pressure and finally capitalized at the end of the game and overtime. Dingmann was phenomenal and will give them a great chance tomorrow and I expect a better all-around showing for them tomorrow night as the nerves may have been settled. That being said, I thought that Hill played a great game. Two blown coverages in front of the net led to two goals, but other than that, they played a great game.

Here is a game I also cannot wait for. Wayzata is better than they looked on Thursday. They will be ready for Hill. Hill is just to deep and play a great team game. If a metro team has to win I pick these guys. A East vs Hill final would be a great bow on the season. Go hounds, go hounds, go hounds.

Wayzata beat Hill Murray 3 to 1 in January.

Wayzata wins 3 to 2 or 4 to 2 tonight.

Go Trojans......

I just don't know how Hill is going to get many pucks past Dingmann. My heart says Hill but my brain says Wayzata

3-2 Wayzata

The key to this game will be Dingman. When he falls down, he'll need to get right back up. Not stay sprawled on the ice for 5 minutes without moving, like he did against Centennial. What was that anyway?

More seriously, when they met in January, Hill had a lot of guys sick. Wayzata is finding out that the state tournament is not quite the same as playing in that cream puff Section 6AA. That will continue tonight.

I like 3-1 Hill. I have a slight preference for a Hill-Edina, as there are more Edina-haters than East-haters. Plus it's nice for Edina to have the crowd on their side, even if just barely and grudgingly. But it's way too early to talk about that now. Wayzata should be a tougher draw than Moorhead proved to be in last year's semi.

I like HILL in this one, they've played them once, they'll go side to side on Dingman and solve him...

Dingman stopped the shots he needed to last night, but in my opinion looked shaky. Hill will exploit that tonight. Pioneers 4-2

Wake up on the wrong side of the bed, Hook? I'm sure you will get banned with your phallic acronym. If you can't play nice, you have to sit in the corner

Good tilt thus far, but another blown coverage for Hill on the Trojan PP goal. Didn't think that Mills should have gotten called for that slash either...

Shaky? Compared to whom? Tretiak? Hasek?

I'm exaggerating of course but Dingman's standard is pretty high.
A non butterfly goalie is fun to watch
Edit* ok maybe he is a butterfly goalie

Only shaky play was when he tripped on the net and decided to lay on the ice, otherwise he's looked rock solid and has kept Wayzata in every minute of the tournament so far.

Zarembinski is sure scoring some huge playoff goals for the Pioneers. We've got another great game going here.

We had two great games tonight, but in the end, the teams that carried the initiative offensively as the game wore on got it done. It's tough to play lockdown defense for 51 minutes against the talented players you see at this stage of the Tourney.

Thanks to both teams for a great game, and I look forward to seeing them both again tomorrow. Congrats to Hill!

Well, it looks like we get the best youth association against the best recruiting high school. Should be a good game.

When that clock was ticking down past the halfway point of the third and Wayzata was up I was SURE it was over. How could they score two when they couldn't score on a couple absolute breakaways? But, they dug down and stole this one right at the end. Stole because they got em late; I still think Hill overall outplayed Wayzata. Not by much.

Hats off to Wayzata. That is a championship team in my opinion. This is one of those great games where its tough to see anyone lose. They will be back. Will be the favorite next year probably.

Championship will be a battle of two historic programs. Big names. Might not like the names, but they are big names

Great season for Dingo. He carried this team all year. I can't wait to hear from D3ref who likely cursed this team with all his ridiculous rants. Tsk tsk for being so over board. Loosing must be the consequence.

The "ship" game or championship game will be very entertaining.

Two great games tonight. That's why they sell 19,000+ for the semis.

I said Wayzata was finding out state is not the cake walk Section 6AA is.:) :)
(Double winks this time, so everyone catches it.)

I think Wayzata scored on their 14th shot. For a long time they were stuck on 15, then 16 for a good while. Karl's point is right on; even an excellent smothering defense has trouble making a one goal lead stand up.

My prediction was way off; Hill didn't get the empty net goal i was counting on.

It'd be nice to see this young Trojan team next year. Too bad no one can repeat in Section 6AA.

The Pioneers Who Needs Guentzel, Anyway? Tour continues.

Not even close to a great game. Maybe the game has changed, but didn't see a lot of end to end play or plays that took you out of your seat or spectacular saves that leave you shaking your head. Didn't really see a player or two that jumps out at you as a special player.
