Congrats to all the players whose name appears on the All State PeeWee A list...certainly a nice honor to be mentioned among the State's best.

I suspect there are other top level players whose name did not appear on the list (too).

What will be interesting to see (this spring and summer) and next winter season...is how playing a season of essentially "no check" hockey affected the development of the top PeeWee players.

Five (who will be) impact players next season at the Bantam A level are: Kevin Fellows (PL), Sam Huff (OMG), Ben Meyer (Crow River), Matt Valure (Hermantown) & Jack Kelly (OMG).

While we wait for that, let’s check in on the Granite Falls Mite Jamboree All State Team!! Keep your eye on the kid who had three shutouts by laying down across the goal mouth. SSM is on hold as we speak.

Give me a break………….I'll assume the list of individuals was put together by the same author who couldn't stop writing about Centennial last month. Funny, the Cougars don't make it to state and the only list they're on is an endangered list. The best part about Pee Wee hockey is “change.” Some where in MN there is a Pee Wee in only his third year of competitive hockey. In 7 years he will be playing for the Gophers along side a former Pee Wee B1.

Prior Lake won in Alex because they have the best and most balanced TEAM. No question they have a few individuals at the head of the class, but that alone does not win a title. There were several teams at State that thought they could win it with 2 studs, but we all know how that ended (a never ending thread centered around a large goalie comes to mind).

By publishing such a list, our job of coaching the philosophy of “team” becomes near impossible. For now, let the Grandparents handle the recognition of the 12-13 year olds.

Not that many people would question the list contains some good Pee-Wee hockey players. But how incredibly stupid to have one senile old man compile a list of 12-13 year olds.

Centennial lost to the eventual runner up and third place team in state ... nothing to be ashamed of and I don't think that was unwarranted coverage last month. They were a good team, just like you said was needed to win state. Agree to much emphasis on single kid carrying a team to state ... it would take a TEAM because there were many good TEAMS.

If you don't agree with this or care then don't read or post. I for one don't see any harm in this list. Maybe I'll watch for them at Bantam's next year.

Bob i don`t think you need to attack him for his list, he didn`t post it on this site, it was linked here. The list was done in a positive manner. No reason for you to call him out, he does alot of positive things for Minnesota Hockey. He does make mistakes but some people take things too personal, relax its just a game to be enjoyed. Fred is the guy with the cowboy hat, sorry i thought that was a given.

We need to clear this up. Fredrick61 did not make the list of Peewee "A" players. Fredrick61 no longer writes for our site, he has decided to take his views to another site. That said MHR is expanding for next season and will have multiple writers in various areas of the state to cover more than the metro area.

Above is the MHR list. I'm sure all are very talented players. Based on observations (from last summer), the five players noted earlier won't have any problem adjusting to the increased level of physical play at the Bantam A level (can't speak for the rest because I haven't watched them play as much as those noted).

Even in past years (when checking was allowed in PeeWee's)...my assessment has been (that) the adjustment from a physical standpoint from PeeWee A to Bantam A is a slightly bigger adjustment than from Bantam A to HS Varsity.

Got a feeling that adjustment gap will only be wider going forward...based on the USA mandated rule changes at the PeeWee level.

I'm just a little uncomfortable with a list like this at the Peewee A level. There are some very obvious names on this list that everyone knows about. The problem is, there are some names on the list that are not even the 2nd or 3rd best players on their teams. The top kids on their teams are not mentioned. I suppose if they had a great game one night and the top player has a down night it is possible??? I love the the 2nd and 3rd ranked players on these teams but the list can be a little off if you ask me. Maybe you should ask all coaches who their top three players are at mid-season next year and then go watch these top players yourself. The list is just not needed at peewee's.

This list is just plain silly. only 12 Associations represented out of what 70 or 80? and only two from outside the greater metro? What's the point? just let the kids be kids. It sends the completely wrong message about youth hockey.
