AAA Price Shopping
Curious to hear what people are paying for the different AAA teams out there and what they receive.
STE - 45 hrs ice, 3-4 tournaments, some skatemill sessions. $1,300

I'd look at location, makeup of team, number of players, tournaments, number of practices and plans for skating entire roster in games and tournies.
To many AAA teams are carrying 20 and more players. It's a money grab and not good for the team ultimately. The number is 15 skaters and often a single goalie with a practice goalie too.
Around $800 to $1000.

Couldn't agree more about the roster issue. It's frustrating to see 20 kids on your summer bench, often with two or three ringers brought in from outside to "help" during tournaments.observer wrote:I'd look at location, makeup of team, number of players, tournaments, number of practices and plans for skating entire roster in games and tournies.

Only other thing I would add is coaching. Good respected coach? Parent or paid? I think that's more important than everything else with the AAAs.

In previous seasons one of my sons has played for the WI Jr. Jets:
-$450
-Two tourneys
-13 high tempo 1 hour on ice practices plus usually half hour to 45 minutes of dryland or classroom each time before or after on ice
-Over by beginning of May so kids can play spring and summer sports
-Great coaching (usually former WI Badgers are the coaches)
-Get to keep one of the two jerseys and the socks
-15 skaters and 2 goalies on the roster
-some age level teams will get together again in August for a few practices and one more end of summer tourney for a small additional cost of like $150 give or take
Great program for those wishing to supplement the winter season but also be able to play other sports in spring/summer/fall

99 Chiefs rock! I saw them play last year in sconny. I think the parents had more fun than the kids did. Lots of beer - brought their own grill - spread of food. The Chief's are a good team.Rusty Blades wrote:-The 99 Chiefs
- 1 practice
- 1 tournament
- 1 grill
- 2 third place finishes
- a fun weekend
- lots of substandard beer with the exception of one beer snob
- priceless
- actually about $75 bucks.......
Super duper triple elite. The kids aren't invited- the parents are.
How many tournaments are the Chiefs going to play this summer?

It's too bad that there's not more programs like this out there for the kids that want to play traveling baseball. I know of at least ten families that would jump at this. $400 - $800 price tag and less demanding is what many are looking for. The Forest Lake or Chisago Arena would be a great home for a program like this.Outoftowner wrote:Mn Flames (St. Cloud)
Each level sets their own schedule.
99s last year:
About 25 hrs of practice and dryland.
5 scrimmages.
1 mini tournament (4 teams)
3 tournaments.
About $750-800
Thank you for the post..

I couldn't agree more. My son plays, cause he has a jersey. Great bunch of people. They're the fans you wish you were with. They're damn near Canadians -- eh.Rusty Blades wrote:-The 99 Chiefs

The Northland Hockey Group has a similar format--4 tourneys, 20 or so practice hours. $600. Most are above average open teamsMrBoDangles wrote:It's too bad that there's not more programs like this out there for the kids that want to play traveling baseball.
