Cheap teams / Dirty players
Enough of the "feel good" posts, what's the real reason for the rule changes? Call um out who are they?

OK, I have your attention now. Yes this is a bad idea for a post, but you know and I know the teams and players who belong on this list, it is up to us as parents to hold these coaches and players to task and demand a higher leverl of accountability. We as parents cannot turn a blind eye and beleive that all is well in the state of hockey, not all girls who play are made with sugar and spice and everything nice. Girls hockey should be billed as fast paced and finesse not black and blue and chippy. The rule states no checking but we've allowed those in charge to get away with it calling it "body contact", call a spade a spade and police are teams, coaches and players. thanks

And this idea is due to all the good examples and experience every hockey parent has shown?KatoDad wrote:OK, I have your attention now. Call me dumb, but after a few years in hockey I always thought the coaches, players and officials took care of all those details in your post...
inthestands,
Never forget your responsibility as a parent to control your own child. I taught my child from day 1 that if she hits a player from behind intentionally or swings a stick at someone in anger. She won't have to deal with coaches, referees or other players. She will deal with me and those consequences will be far greater than anything else.
It all starts from parenting, period and ends from parenting. My child has played 4 years of varsity hockey playing every other shift. Over those 4 years she has gotten maybe 10 penalties total. She outworks players and likes to score goals and win games. Hard to do from the penalty box.

Knight7, no worries. I've had 3 go through the program, and have the same view as you.
What I don't agree with is a group of "hockey parents" taking coaches and players to task. Have you listened to the feed back from the stands during any level of hockey game latley?
As parents, all accountabilty starts in your own home looking in the mirror. For most, its yelling in the stands and pointing fingers..

First... not good to call out players by name...bad posters...bad. They are only children and this is only your opinion.
With that said I could not agree more in reference with the role parents should play in regards to the conduct of their sons and daughters. My daughter played for a couple of teams that had problems with players who could not control themselves… actually they thought there style of play was justified…you know just hard nose aggressive play. When in reality their conduct could have been viewed as excessive and cowardly…most of their offenses were late hits, slashing, checking… done mostly as retaliation because the opponent had the audacity of being… talented. For the most part they thought it was funny and cool. So did the parents! So although it may be true the responsibility should rest with us ultimately the coaches are more culpable since they have the final control… by not playing these misguided souls .
