I've always been under the impression that while playing under the auspices of USA Hockey, kids are covered by a kind of secondary insurance policy in case someone gets hurt. I was always told this was paid for by the yearly fees everyone pays when they sign up.
To my knowledge, kids playing in the MN State High School league aren't members of USA Hockey, so my assumption is the insurance doesn't exist for them. Does the MSHSL provide the same type of coverage? I ask because of the wonderful efforts I see going on around town to raise money for Jack Jablonski. I'm sure the costs must be staggering.
