This should go in the books as a 4-4 tie since they were still tied after the first overtime. followthepuck.com was wondering about this, so I looked it up on the mshsl website.

I thought high school games typically had 8 minute overtimes but this game only had a 5 minute overtime and then they did a 3 minute second overtime. That seemed kind of weird. Either way, it should go in the books as a Spud's win. The only time it should go down as a tie is if they get to a shootout for advancement purposes.

That could be why they did a second overtime rather than go to a shootout after the first OT. Agreed, that does seem weird.

Little Falls over Willmar 3-1. Shots were 39-9 (29-2 after two). Willmar did not get a shot on goal until 6 min left in second period. LF needs to find someone who can put the puck in the back of the net. Should be a nice match up with Mound Westonka tomorrow.

I was there and I think it was a mistake. They went with 5 minutes to start with and then realized it should have been 8, so they added another 3 minutes. The second game between Centennial and BSM also went to overtime and this time they put up 8 minutes.
