HM v Edina

Post by Sparlimb »

JV game 2-2 final in OT.

Varsity: 2-1 HM wins. Hannah Brandt scores a Kyle Rau like goal on the power play with 2:08 left in 3rd period to lead HM to the win. Hill outshot Edina 2-1, but the game was very even and both teams played pretty well. Both squads played solid defene and despite being outshot, Edina was able to force HM shots way out on the perimeter. HM's one weakness this year is getting too used to pretty goals. They need to also learn how to dig and grind and get dirty goals as well. Edina sure has a nice squad again this year...

Thanks for the report, sounds like a great game, wish I could have been there. Does this mean that the HM goaltending situation is improving? Must have been much better.

Junior Goalie played very well for HM. The one goal was a one-timer in a scramble that wasn't her fault. HM's first goal was a puck thrown out front that very well may have gone in off a skate, I couldn't tell. Edina had the better of play through the first half of the 2nd period. After that HM had the better of it for much the rest of the game.

I will say, not only is HM playing an outstanding non-conference schedule, they played both Friday and Saturday night the last two weekends, which can only help as they head towards the Kaposia Classic and a possible state tournament birth. I'm not sure the outcome would have been any different against Edina, but it the second game of a back to back, with this one being an afternoon game to boot...
