A vs AA bantam

Post by Chuck Norris Fan »

Heard last night that D10 is going to have an A and AA grouping for bantams this year. I know the state was going to do it for Bantams and PWs next year.

Will be determined as A or AA based on HS size.

Any one know how this is going to work?

I'm curious to as to how it's gonna work. Is it just another tier (AA, A, B-1, B-2 etc....)? Will AA and A play all year and just have seperate state tournaments? A breakdown of how this is gonna work would be great.

D10 does have a AA and A classification this season, however its for inner district classifications only. They will all be considered "A" teams outside the district. It was done to get some of the smaller associations to declare "A" teams this season rather then declaring B1 instead.

The AA teams and the A teams will be placed in separate divisions, and play each other one time this season. The games between the AA and A will not count in the standings within each division. At the end of the season the top 4 AA teams will be an automatic lock for the district tournament and seeded 1-4. The next 4 AA teams and the top 4 A teams will have a play-in game against each other to get into the district tournament completing the field of 8 teams for districts. Then the district tournament proceeds from there.

3 or 4 associations delcared "A" teams as a result of this change that in the past have only delcared B1 teams for the most part.

So in summary for teams outside the district we are all just considered "A" teams and can play against any other "A" team in the state.

Black tape.
I think your info is an old proposal. From what I have heard and have seen in the new handbook online all games count the set up is no different that when the district used split leagues. The new district bracket is in the handbook. The teams are considered and registered as A Bantams. All A Bantam teams will be eligible for the ADV 15 program with each team guaranteed 2 slots(in activity schedule).

GB58 you are correct. They will play an unbalanced schedule tho. "A" will Play all "A"'s twice and "AA"s once, and vice versa for the "AA". they will count in the standings. Black tape is correct about the play downs. But only top 2 "AA" and top "A" teams are in playoffs--the 5 remaining "AA" teams will play the "A" teams to round out the final 5 teams for district tourney.
