Vegas native commits to the U

A defenseman out of Las Vegas, Nevada (Chris Rial), has commited to the University of Minnesota. He becomes the first ever recruit from the Vegas area for Minnesota. He's currently on the Kenai River and is in his last year of Juniors meaning he will join the U next year. He currently has played in 56 games (14 Goals, 12 Assists). I also looked at the kids coming in for the Gophers for next year and this year.

Kyle Rau- Eden Prairie
Joel Vinneau G- Hearst, Ontario (Muskegon USHL)
Adam Wilcox G- (Green Bay USHL)
Sam Warning- Chesterfield, MO (Cedar Rapids USHL)
Ryan Reilly- (Sioux Falls USHL)
Connor Reilly- (Sioux Falls USHL)
Travis Boyd- USNDPT U18 Team
Ben Marshall- (Omaha USHL)
Seth Ambroz- (Omaha USHL)
Christian Isackson- (Sioux Falls USHL)

All but three of these kids have played juniors. Are they finally realizing that that is the best route to go for these kids? Also are they trying to stretch out into other areas with the kids from Canada, Missouri, and Nevada or is this just a one time deal?

I don't think all of those recruits are coming 2011-2012. You still have the same coaching staff. A 6-5 kid is nice, but not playing above the NAHL should throw up some flags? Roll player yes, program difference no.

I think he will be a good addition to the team. He will help bring some physical play to the team that hasn't had any for a few years.

No it was a list I found for 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons. It didn't specify the year because of the juniors league.
