Good vs great coaches

Post by TXHawk »

Watching HS hockey over the years you hear the names of some coaches over and over again because they always seem to produce teams at a top level. What is that makes a good vs great coach? Is it the players, the program or the leadership the coach brings?

First you have to define "good" and "great". You seem to be asking what makes a great team? A coach may or may not have anything to do with the success of a particular team. You can win the state tournament with a lousy coach.

I think the question should be: Who are the really great coaches and what is it about them that allows them to do the most with the talent they have to work with?
