There's a lot of parity this season and I like it! This is the best the ECAC has looked in a long time, and that's without Cornell being any good. Usual Hockey East heavyweights Boston University and Maine are within striking distance. Dartmouth has been in the top 15 for weeks, but have recently fallen out. Realistically the top 20 have a chance without winning their conference tournament. It's bad news bears for the rest.

I think you meant "parity" for the rest of the country though.

Don't sweat the small stuff.
It's all small stuff.

These three teams probably need to win 5 or 6 more games...
19. Minnesota

UMD is screwed. With no apparent goaltending, defense and little scoring outside their first line, this team could very easily lose in the first round of the WCHA playoffs and be on the outside looking in when the Pairwise is finalized prior to the NCAA selection.MNHockey75 wrote:Pairwise heading into last regular season weekend:

If UMD loses in the first round of the WCHA, it is possible; however, if they win the first round, it will likely secure them a spot in the NCAA Tourney.east hockey wrote:UMD is screwed. Pairwise as of midnight tonight:
1. Yale
2. Boston College
3. North Dakota -- UND fell to #3 despite beating Tech 6-1 and 11-2.
4. Michigan
5. Denver
6. Union
7. Nebraska-Omaha
8. Merrimack
9. Miami
10. Notre Dame
11. Minnesota-Duluth
12. New Hampshire
13. Dartmouth
14. Rensselaer
15. Western Michigan
----------------------------
16. Boston University
17. Colorado College
18. Maine
19. Minnesota
20. St. Cloud State
21. Wisconsin
The top 12 are basically locks at this point, unless something crazy happens. After that it's up in the air. CC will have to win a game at the "Final Five" to get in. Minnesota, SCSU and Wisconsin will have to win it most likely. If Maine can sweep Merrimack they will get a huge boost. Things are going to get interesting real fast.

Atlantic Hockey (First Round):
Mercyhurst 5, Robert Morris 1
Canisius 6, Niagara 3
Sacred Heart 6, Bentley 3
American International 6, Army 3
Quarterfinals (Best-of-3):
1W RIT vs. 6W Canisius
2W Connecticut vs. 5W Mercyhurst
1E Holy Cross vs. 6E American International
2E Air Force vs. 5E Sacred Heart
CCHA (First Round):
#7 Alaska (Wins series 2-0)
#8 Lake Superior (Wins series 2-0)
Bowling Green/Northern Michigan (Tied 1-1) -- Game 3 tonight.
ECAC (First Round):
#8 Quinnipiac (Wins series 2-0)
#10 Harvard (Wins series 2-0)
Princeton/St. Lawrence (Tied 1-1) -- Game 3 tonight.
Rensselaer/Colgate (Tied 1-1) -- Game tonight.
Everyone eliminated at this point is donezo. Rensselaer would make the field the field of 16 at this point, but if they lose again to Colgate it's nighty night.

There were three games tonight and three upsets.
CCHA
#11 Bowling Green 2, #6 Northern Michigan 1 (2OT)
ECAC
#11 St. Lawrence 2, #6 Princeton 1
#12 Colgate 2, #5 Rensselaer 1 (2OT)
Rensselaer was sitting pretty coming into the conference tournament, now they're finished in the blink of an eye. RPI's defeat is fantastic news for Colorado College though, who're now in the top 15.

NCAA's
UND and Denver in same regional is a joke. Just another case of the comittee not wanting multiple WCHA teams to advance.
Why are Michigan (#5) and Miami (#4) not in the same regional bracket?
If you go by seeds the 4 seed should play the 5 seed in the Quarterfinals.
