No, the AD a couple of years ago went with the traditional school colors.

History wise, what is the series record between these two schools?

And what is the largest margin of victory the Lumberjacks have had over the Rams?

I don't know.
I am sure it is very lopsided in the
Rams favor.
Bemidji started HS hockey I believe in 1963.
And were not real competitive until ablut 1971 or 72 with good teams throughout the 70s and 80s but went into a tailspin in the 90's with up and more down years form 98 to now.

But this year's group of young men play hard and skate well so we are looking for a good result from tonight's game.

Come early they are expecting a packed house.

I agree with elliott. History means nothing. These boys weren't around to make HS history then..... but they are around to make a name for themselves now and they will give it all they have! GO JACKS! :D

As a sideline -- if you want to talk historically -- if you compare this group of boys on the way up through youth hockey -- I would say the wins would be on the Bemidji side. These boys have been to more than one state tourney representing Bemidji.

Congratulations to Bemidji. Good to see some new blood in Section 8AA. By the way, Bemidji was competitive by 1968. They played Greenway in the "backdoor game" in 1968 and lost 6-1. The Sargent brothers played on that Bemidji team.

Bemidji was very good and a better team, but Roseau was BAD and it didnt help that Josh Erickson was out with knee injury

I viewed the Game, and Bemidji was outplayed in the first period, with the second period pretty even. Score was 3-3 after (2) Bemidji dominated the third, and Roseau did not have an answer for the spirit and passion of Bemidji. Big win for Bemidji. Shots were almost even for the game.

You are right about the game in 68'

But, I believe Gary Sargent graduated in 1971 and Earl a couple of years later.

Maybe Gary was on that team as a freshman, but Earl wasn't.

I pretty sure since I played against both.

SOG by period
R 10 10 8 = 28
B 9 11 12 = 32

Penalties 3 each

Gary graduated in 1972, he played on the first Bemidji state tourney team that got thrashed by International Falls. Earl was a sophomore on that team, but made it to state two more times eventually getting to the championship game in 1974 where the 'Jacks were smoked by Edina East .

These teams sparked my passion for high school hockey as I was a kid living in Brrmidji at the time. Last year, despite some mocking on this board, I had a Gary Sargent tribute jersey made and wore it to last year's tourney. Unfortunately they didn't get the colors quite right so it's only half as cool as the original powder blue-ish jerseys from that era. I'd love to get one of those, PM me if you have any leads. And any leads on any video from that era...

It'd be awesome to see this year's Jacks team break the Ram-Spud stranglehold on Section 8 and make it to the tourney, I'll be cheering for 'em.
It's hard to win when you always lose.
